Current depth chart for the condors. Obviously with Holloway out for 3 months, it hurts his development as he was slated for top line time. I'm actually interested in seeing some games to see the development of some of these young kids.

Centre takes a severe dip with Holloway being out until at least December.

LW is pretty bad if Cracknell is the top guy in the system...

Interesting to see people put Lagesson on the AHL roster. He was a player the Oilers have been afraid to put through waivers up until now...I wonder if he does have any interest around the league.

Turris and Perlini MUST be better than Cracknell, no? I feel like Cracknell was just put there to help out the 2 youngins. Turris apparently can't even be depended on even for some veteran mentorship in the AHL... Actually, should back up, not sure what this list is from :)

Feel like Archibald might be down there soon. Hopefully he gives them depth and nothing else.

How would his presence in Bakersfield affect any call ups the Oilers might have to make during the season? There is testing, but who knows what political policies for flights and border crossings will be from now until May. And what about Condors games in Canada? (Vancouver AHL affiliate in Abbotsford)

Perlini scores two for Condors last night in a 7-2 beat down by Colorado.
It was the last 2 goals of the game, it was 7-0 before that.. 2 goals in nothing time..

Rodrigue in net. I guess having a goaltender coach for a dad growing up only takes you so far.
Needs some minutes in the ECHL. When Smith comes back I expect Skinner will be the No.1 in Bako.

https://theahl.com/ahl-award-winners-january-2022

"Griffith, the AHL Player of the Month, found the scoresheet in all nine of his games played for Bakersfield last month, totaling six goals and 12 assists for 18 points along with a plus-10 rating as the Condors went 6-0-3-0 with him in the lineup in January.

Griffith assisted on both Bakersfield goals in a 3-2 overtime loss at Henderson on Jan. 1, and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal in a 6-3 victory at Abbotsford on Jan. 6. He chipped in a goal and an assist in a 5-1 win over San Jose on Jan. 15 before recording the first five-assist game in the AHL this season as the Condors doubled up Tucson, 6-3, on Jan. 19. After spending time on the Edmonton Oilers’ taxi squad, Griffith returned to the Bakersfield lineup and posted five points during a three-game visit to Tucson, extending his scoring streak to 10 games.

Griffith, who had points in 13 straight contests from Oct. 16 to Nov. 17, is the first AHL skater with multiple double-digit scoring streaks in the same season since his Providence Bruins linemate Frank Vatrano in 2015-16. He is currently tied for sixth in the AHL in scoring with 38 points (13 goals, 25 assists) in 28 games for the Condors in 2021-22, and has also skated in one NHL contest with the Oilers. The ninth-year pro from Wallaceburg, Ont., has totaled 141 goals and 266 assists for 407 points in 443 career AHL games with Bakersfield, Manitoba, Rochester, Toronto and Providence, and was voted a First Team AHL All-Star in 2015-16."

Griffith will probably only get called up to the NHL in dire emergency situations, but I think he's the kind of guy who can mentor the younger guys trying to make it to The Show. Right now, I'm thinking when a guy like Benson gets sent down as he probably will, Griffith can show him what he has to do to make it back to the NHL.

Per Ryan Holt on Twitter.

"Colin Chaulk has been named the ninth head coach in franchise history and the third in @TheAHL era. He'll assume his duties tonight in #Condorstown. "

Also per Holt.

"Keith Gretzky and Sylvain Rodrigue will be behind the bench with Colin tonight. "

Condors bolster their coaching staff.

https://theahl.com/condors-add-ahl-hall-of-famer-anderson-to -coaching-staff

"Anderson, 64, spent 14 seasons as head coach of the Chicago Wolves, including 10 as members of the AHL (2001-08, 2013-16). During those 10 seasons, Anderson won three division titles, reached three Calder Cup Finals and won the league championship in 2002 and 2008. His 424 victories rank fifth among head coaches in league history.

Anderson also won two International Hockey League Turner Cup championships with the Wolves in 1998 and 2000."

Can't hurt to have Anderson in Bakersfield.

Curious how a guy with that track record didn't even coach in the NHL.

Skinner loaned back to Bako and is starting tonight for Bako... obviously had to have stayed in Cali after last night while team flew back at 4am.

Skinner with a shutout last night...

What on earth are we doing here, Kenny?

A few brief highlights from the Condors at Grand Rapids Feb. 25/22, most featuring Skinner. Only a brief sample, but Skinner looked calm and VERY well positioned on all the shots.

In the here and now, the Oilers have one goalie who age seems to have caught up with hm (and he gets a raise for next season) and another who is good on short runs but very risky to play too often. Not saying Skinner is a long term solution to the chronic Oiler goaltending issues, but he is the best goalie the Oilers have in the system in the here and now.

He needs to work on his positioning... whats he doing OFF his goal line? Did he not learn from Mike Smith that you play on your goal line, or behind your net? Anywhere else and you’re just going to have a short career. 😏

Long overdue for Skinner to be one of two goalies with the Oilers. Call NJ and say who do you want, whoever they choose tell that guy it’s NJ or the AHL.

Interesting stat.. of the 7 Defensemen down in Bakerville.. 5 are Right Hand.. some RHD depth

And odd stat.. from Matty... Desharnais in last 25 games has been either a plus+ or even player.. probably a long shot to make NHL.. but still a pretty great stat for the AHL. Currently best +/- on the team at +23.. ..closest other Condor is Brosseau at +14.

I never watched Perlini closely enough in his limited time here to see what he was like without the puck, but I was just tickled to see a bottom 6 guy put himself in positions for scoring chances and willing to shoot, and he's got a great shot. Given who Tip was trotting out there to get caved in at different points earlier in the season, I'm kinda disappointed he didnt get more opportunity. So maybe I'm missing something because I've heard guys actually get a bit pissy over Benson on the big roster, but not over a guy that while not physical, actually produced a bit.

Perlini is a classy guy. Don't know if he will ever work his way back to the NHL, but he certainly has a great attitude.

Perlini continues his streak of fire.. 1st Star and another G & A
Now has 11G + 7A in 17 games.
If he could manage the defensive side of the NHL game he'd have a job on the 3rd line.

I'm kinda kicking myself that I didn't pay close enough attention to his play, I mean there were other guys when Perlini was up that were visibly worse in the bottom 6, that are still with the club.

I think Woodcraft could squeeze a player out Perlini, he didn't have him for long before he got sent down, if there were more time in the regular season I think Perlini would get a look.

6'-7" D-man Vinnie Desharnais is starting to get some love..
Skating is always the question, haven't been able to watch him, but he's managing pretty well in the AHL.

Vinny Desharnais needs to be in the end of year @TheAHL award talk.

He’s 5th among D in 5v5 scoring without any PP. He logs the most minutes for one of the top defensive teams. And he’s a league leading +35.

I get most just look at points for voting, but this is my soapbox.

I read on twitter yesterday, sounds like Samorukov may need surgery on the other shoulder. So that will be 2 shoulder surgeries in 2 years for the guy. Not good. Hopefully it's nothing too serious.

Yeah I saw that on lowetide's blog, and Lavoie out for the season with a knee injury .. holy crap
What's with Sammy and shoulders, he's a big frame guy, odd.

I hope he doesn't turn into another Klefbom. I think Klefbom had at least 1, maybe more than 1 surgery on his shoulders when he was pretty young and not in the NHL.

Sounds like Lavoie and Sammy are out for season.. just when you think the cupboard is stocked..
Holloway injured.. not serious, out until next week, Broberg healing up (ankle) should be back in a week .. or two.

I was just looking at the AHL scoreboard and saw that Holloway has missed the last two games. Any idea on his injury?

Fanti quietly let’s in 5 on 41 shots for his first AHL win.

Daniel
Nugent Bowman is saying it is a knee/thigh injury and it’s not healing as well as expected. Out for this weekend and will be reevaluated next week.

Per Ryan Holt Twitter.

Philip Broberg has hit the ice for an optional morning skate and is expected to return after missing the last 13 games. Carter Savoie is on ice for the first time, but not expected to debut tonight.

Noah Philp will make his team debut tonight as well.

Interested to see how Philp does.

Condors play up here at Abbotsford next week, think I'll go, hopefully Savoie is playing by then, not sure how Holloway is progressing.. its been awhile..

Heard Savoie might play his first game tonight, I'm heading out to Abby for the game, should be interesting to see him and Philp.. will let you know!

Watched the Condors game in Abbotsford yesterday..
Play was fast, and scrambly, I was in row 5 about 10 ft up from the crease.. AHL is pretty fast.. not a lot of time to think as a player, good NHL training ground..
Savoie's first game.. limited shifts.. not enough to rate.. he'll take a while to adjust to the speed and size.. probably a good idea to leave the NCAA.. IMO probably at least a year to develop to the higher competition level .

Kesserling and Broberg were most impressive D.. you could tell who the Condors thought were their best D pair as they were out on the 5 on 3 PK.

Great news!

K. Gretzky was on Stauffer today talking about injured players.. says Samorukov WILL NOT NEED SURGERY.. 👍🏻
Injury was not as bad as first indicated.. ahead of schedule in recovery.. said he might be back to play this year if the Condors go through a round or two of playoffs..

Said Nemo almost ready, should be ready for playoffs.. same with Holloway.

Confirmed Lavoie is out for year.. LBI.

The fact Samorukov doesn't need surgery is good but him injuring both shoulders a year apart is concerning to me. Sounds similar to Klefbom. He had shoulder issues before he was a full time Oiler and it followed him along to where he's probably done in the NHL and he was done at 27.
