As you probably can remember, this is the day the franchise was forever altered, and not for the better. Many moons ago, on August 9th, Kevin Lowe became an Oiler.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Thanks for trying to ease the blow of the Gretzky trade by reminding us that Kevin Lowe graced this org for so long.

But, that's the 2nd worst day right?

Worst was obviously this:

Those few Lowe-less years shine like a beacon. A glowing example of all this organization can be. Has been! And will be again!

Fun fact, during Kevin Lowe's playing career the Oilers only made the playoffs when he played for them, and only missed the playoffs when he did not play for them. Turns out he was the most important guy all along.

Great statistic! I'm honestly shocked we haven't heard from a prospect that talked to Lowe about how that was the case :) I guess the 6th player to win 6 cups without having won 1 with the Canadiens one blows minds too much for Lowe to keep listing more accomplishments and fun facts.

I remember watching it on TV. I would have been not quite 11. I cried. Pretty devastated that day.
