All the talk of Holloway and savoie, rapheal is quietly putting a nice season together in Sweden. Has 18 goals, 32 points in 42 games 62 pims. The minus 11 is a bit concerning, he may be an option for us next year.

I'm less worried about +-, he's on an awful team.. the minus could be D and goalie.

Ten players on that team in double digit minus and only one positive player on the whole squad. +/- is a bit of a relative stat...if your team is atrocious, it's unlikely that you're going to have a great one.

Lavoie is the top scorer by 9 points. Best player on the team by a mile at age 19.

Exactly. I think that league is actually pretty good, Lagesson did well there and it translated to doing well in the NHL, especially at only 19, really think there is a player there, any guy 6'-4" and has a goal scoring touch has a place on the Oil.

Hey.. all this talk about Holloway and Savoie.. but we have young Lavoie over in Vasby sniping some real beauties! Here's 2 from today..
https://twitter.com/antonj85/status/1367933028161486853

Guy just RIPS those wristers home.. he's a sniper that McD could feed all night long, plus he's 6'-4" and good on the boards, and in front of the net.. his only question mark is speed, can he translate his Vasby success on big ice, to NHL speed and smaller ice.. Might need a year in Bakerville, and off season skating coaching, but he's a goal scorer that is for sure.

Back from suspension for Saturday relegation game, Vasby lost the first 2 games without him in the best of 5 relegation series.

We'll see if he can make some magic!

He reminds me a bit of Getzlaf when he was young, Getlaf of course developed into a great NHLer, but Lavoie is kind of the same type, snipe shot, tall and rangy (6'-4"), good hands, plays physical, works well on the boards. I remember thinking when Getlaf was drafted that his speed might be an issue, same as I feel about Lavoie, but Getzlaf got the speed, and the rest followed. If Lavoie develops the speed, we could have a good one here, for a 2nd round pick. icon_nod

Getzlaf was such a good skater though. I kept thinking during the WJCs that Getz had slick wheels.

I don't see these two as comparables. I see Lavoie's high end being like a Robitaille. Great hands but maybe not the best wheels.

You remember Getzlaf as a good skater in junior? Hmmm my memory must be off then.. I'll take a Robataille though :)

I remember watching with Calgary and he looked choppy, but he was already a man at 18. He did what he wanted and whenever he wanted on the ice. He was also SOB. Hated him. Who knew that hate would last a career?

Love to have him for a playoff run. Getzlaf would get Kassian going.

OK, thats what I remember as well, very choppy skating, needed a lot of work, which is what I see in Lavoie.

That would be a good playoff tandem on the 3rd line, Getzlaf at center.

I know I tend to be overly optimistic about the Oiler prospects especially the forwards. Like so many of the other prospects, Lavoie's progress is pretty uneven, but the kid is having his moments/flashes of brilliance on a Condors team that is off to a poor start this season.
