The stats update again. The GDT thread machine now tells the game number to eliminate confusion. Took me awhile to focus some time on fixing some code for this site.

LET'S GO OILERS!!!!!

MJ, don't know if you want to include this for the few European based fans or those who will be in Europe over the course of the next week or so.

Game 1: Edmonton at Anaheim - May 19 As Live NASN EU/UK & Ireland
Game 2: Edmonton at Anaheim - May 21 LIVE NASN UK & Ireland/EU
Game 3: Anaheim at Edmonton - May 23 LIVE NASN UK & Ireland - As Live NASN EU
Game 4: Anaheim at Edmonton - May 25 LIVE NASN UK & Ireland - AS Live NASN EU

Unfortuantely for me,
If my Ducks lose this game they are as good as gone from the playoffs. The Oilers are playing a modified trap and playing it to perfection. The Oilers played the best team in the NHL, played a modified trap to perfection and beat them in 6 games. The Oilers played a Sharks team that is better than they are, once again, played the modified trap to perfection, beat them in 6 games. If the ducks lose tonight, the Oilers will most likely beat a team that is slightly better than they are and knock them out in 5 games or less.

QUACK QUACK QUACK clapping clapping clapping
It just might be the last time I'm able to say that enthusiastically. doh

I just hope they ducks don't bring out that cowboy (I think he was from Mighty Ducks 2). That guy was unstoppable...he'd lasso and hog-tie players at will...That, and if they start using the "triple-deke", Roli is in big trouble.

I used to hate it when people called any Oiler system the trap...but if a "modified trap" is what go us 12 goals in two games vs. SJ...then anyone can call our system the trap.

Funny, I always thought the best team wins ... guess not it is not the case when it comes to the Oilers. We played the modified trap to perfection, and beat two teams with home-ice advantage in 6 games, and now we took the series lead with 2-0, yet, we are not the better team ... whatever works to ease your pain. Not like we haven't been there ...

Good luck, Oil!

I think the boys see the opportunity winning game 1 has presented to them.

Win this one and the series looks wrapped up.

Ummm...knock on wood. Even up two games, things are by no means secure. Long way to go yet, and we didn't dominate by any means Friday night. We have to keep the pedal down, because we've seen first hand how fast these things can swing. Win tonight, and then come home and take care of business.

You bet. Start looking to far down the road, and bad stuff happens. Look at all the Battle of Alberta talk that started up in Calgary before they won.

Take it one game at a time boys; I am a believer. The Oil have shown resilience, desire and more than a couple of nice bursts of talent so far. I think they'll keep winning if they just take it one game at a time.

If they win tonight they will be up 2-0. That's it.

Go Oilers Go.

No I don't need to knock on wood. If they win two in Anahiem they should have things wrapped up going home.

The Oilers should be a little more rested for this game. They have to play better than they did in game 1, for I expect to see a better Ducks team tonight.

I'm sure they'll probably try to get to Roloson somehow.

Yup. That's what Carlyle was emphasizing in the press
http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2006/news/story?id=245 2313
Quote:

"It's no different than any other goaltender. If they have clear sight of the puck at all times and they're out in position, you're not going to beat many of them," Anaheim coach Randy Carlyle said Saturday.

"That's the one thing we've got to try to change. We've got to get people inside and we have to shoot the puck in different areas and continually drive," he said.

Anaheim defenseman Scott Niedermayer added: "It's the same old story. We need to go to the net, to try to get rebounds. That's no secret."

that wouldnt be an easy task
Roloson is so calm between the pipes he tends to throw the opposition forwards off their games.. i dont think much gets to this guy... his dramatic antics are kind of fun to watch and he pisses off a lot of people. I love how he's comfortable taking penalties.. i've never had to say dumb penalty when he trips up Joe Thornton or Thomas Holmstrom but I laugh and I admire his style of play.. it's refreshing. I absolutely love when he takes penalties haha that trip on Thornton was pinnacle brilliance hahahaha

From the Journal:

****
PERRY MAY FINALLY PLAY

Ducks rookie winger Corey Perry might play tonight in place of Travis Moen on the fourth line.

Perry, the former London Knights star, bruised his knee in a freak collision with teammate Sami Pahlsson in Game 7 of their series with the Calgary Flames and hasn't played since.

"I wouldn't say it's a slam-dunk, but he's been a player who can provide some

level of offence for our team," said Carlyle. Perry's first NHL goal was against the Oilers last October.

I heard a funny quote from Neidermeyer on the FAN590 this morning. Something to the effect that "we want to bring it all out tonight, we don't want to have anything left when we're done."
Might not have anything left already! icon_lol
Seriously, they will go all out tonight and the Oil will have to be ready. This is the juncture of the series that I'm a little worried about. Is this where the Oil show some fatigue and the rust is off the ducks? Tonight will tell, but if we stay OUTTA the P. Box, and hit some more, we should be OK for tonight. This might be an OTer with an Oil win. (3-2)

I've got a good feeling about this game.....as long as they can keep the Ducks away from the high percentage shooting areas and can get a few more shots on goal.... another 3-1 score for the good guys...... icon_cool

A good omen. Yet another OIL spill in the pacific ocean. Beware ducks!!! rasta
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060521/ap_on_re_us/oil_spill
Quote:

HONOLULU - An oil tanker spilled up to 2,000 gallons of crude oil into the Pacific Ocean on Saturday morning, an official said.

The Coast Guard and the state Health Department categorized it as a minimal spill, said Nathan Hokama, spokesman for Tesoro Corp., which owns the tanker. There were no immediate reports of harm to wildlife.

The spill occurred about 1.5 miles off the coast of Oahu when a hose line pumping oil from the tanker to a floating buoy disconnected, Hokama said.

"The only thing we know right now is that one of the couplings in the hose separated, which is what it's supposed to do whenever there's a strain on the hose," he said.

Crews from the Clean Islands Council and the Marine Spill Response Corporation helped with cleanup.

The light crude oil may have dissipated quickly because of strong sunshine and choppy waters, Hokama said.

Any potential fines would be assessed based on the results of an investigation, he said.

Kinda concerned about the possilbity of the flu bug spreading with Gator, Bergeron and Raffi not taking the morning skate. I agree with TSN's Darren Pang that Oilers need to hit more and dump the puck in more.
