Jankowski finally gonna live up to the hype?

First goal of the NHL season! 56 goal pace!

Didn't deserve this one. No hustle. Leaving players open left and right. To fancy on the power play. If Kassian isn't gonna hit and be physical he should be on the taxi squad. Yammo played more physical than Kassian. I hope this is a wakeup call that you can't save your aggressive play and hustle until the goalie is pulled. Have to come out of the gate like your down.

Kassian had one pinch where he made contact with the defender and managed to create a turnover. He doesn't have the energy to do that all the time in a top 6 role though. Too many minutes. Too bad he's paid so much now or he could play where he fits.

Taylor Hall looks right wearing #4. I couldn't get used to seeing him with those other numbers. It's too bad that the Oilers won't have it as an option here when they bring him back.

He looks good tonight. He’s deferring being the puck carrier to Eichel and stole an empty net goal from Reinhart. Looks like he’s assumed Draisaitl’s role on the PP.

He’d never work with a guy like McDavid. 🙄

Lucic blows a time during warmup and takes Lindholm out at the knees... flames are in mid season form.

Have to say, I like that they went back to their retros full time.

Could start as early as tonight. Can’t imagine the jets being over the whole play in round and the Scheifele thing.

Hanafin with a greasy check to the numbers of Kyle Connor 2 feet from the boards tonight. No place in the game for that. Laine takes exception and roughs Hanafin up a bit before the turtle jumps on Laine’s back and a party ensues.

Pens can’t be too pleased with their goalie situation either... Jarry got lit up against Philly in the opener, finished with 6 Goals against and a .720. Tonight? 3 first period goals before he got yanked for DeSmith.

They’ve been the Oilers East for a while now. This will be ten years without playoffs if they don’t make it

Jason Spezza waived by the Leafs today and he came out saying he will retire if a different team claims him.

I’m sorry. But. I hope someone does just to see if he truly will or if it’s some bs. Bothers me. Just like the Rask comments. I get it, you don’t want to play anywhere else but man the entitlement is just unbelievably off the charts.

Imagine the Colorado Avalanche claim you. You join a cup favourite. And retire? Cmon. Grow up you bum.

I don’t mind it. It’s a pandemic. Crossing borders is hard. Relocating your family right now would be awful, and something you may not even do. Then you are in a situation where you don’t see your family for months because visiting is so difficult. I don’t have problems with players desiring stability, especially today. If he retired well he’s giving up his career, so I think that is more than a fair trade.

I’ve seem enough talented players have a bad half year and then have their lives uprooted because GMs don’t seem to understand that careers have ebbs and flows. I have no problem with players taking any control they can with their situation.

That'll be the day I believe a person should be forced to work (or play) or be some where he doesn't want to. Spezza is from Toronto so why should he have to go somewhere that he doesn't want to be? If he has hung on to a significant chunk of his career earnings he is set for life.

https://www.capfriendly.com/players/jason-spezza

I have nothing against anyone who leaves a business or career on their own terms. He's 37 years old, and he isn't able to keep up to his previous standards. When you can't keep up the pace and play at your best, it's time to go.

There's a 10:00 am game today for all of us who are working from home, unemployed, or gambling degenerates.

I do have 3 screens, iPhone and tablet in my home office.

Game two on the workday calendar is on now. If they did this Friday I'd be watching with a beer... sadly, I'll have another round of tap water.

I have nothing against anyone who leaves a business or career on their own terms. He's 37 years old, and he isn't able to keep up to his previous standards. When you can't keep up the pace and play at your best, it's time to go.

Yeah, I don't really have an issue with that either. He's saying he has a line in the sand. That's fine. Why would he want to move now? He doesn't have a lot more to prove, and he sure doesn't want to end up on a team that isn't a contender. If someone wants to convince him otherwise, they can always call the Leafs and try to get permission to talk to him, or they can just claim him and hope for the best. If he quits though, then you can't say he didn't warn you.

Yeah, signing league minimum to sign for 1 team should afford a guy on the edge of retirement a little leeway with fans. If he's not good enough to make the lineup or even stick with that team, so be it, he can just trigger the process to have his contract voided.

Looch point alert!

Assist from wildly swinging at a puck around the net that went to another flame that scored.

Shore is our only bottom 6 player with a point so far this year.

15 years down the road, they're finally eating just desserts!

I think we better get used to this, it's not the first game the get the PPD-Covid treatment and it sure won't be the last. The NFL had something like 600 players and support staff test positive. The NBA has a game postponed almost everyday. The MLB had teams sit out for lengthy period during the summer case lull. It would be surprised if it didn't hit Edmonton at some point.
