I like it! 1 yr, 1 mill deal. Hard to complain about that.

I heard Seravalli mentioned yesterday that he thought the cheap guys who are good would go quick because teams will want lock them up.

Hmmm, I personally think he was only worth 0.8M. extra 200k would go a long way to filling out the rest of the roster.

You think 1 mill for a guy that scored 16 goals and 37 its in 70 games is too much?

Yeah, I think we held all the cards here, he wanted to stay, plus injury concerns. Not that impressed with his nothing to lose performance with Ottawa. Look at his seasons before that, #sad. I bet he woulda taken 800k. Every bit of cap space saved matters.

I dont think the math adds up if you put klefbom on LTIR you save 4.16M plus the 5M remaining; i am pretty sure Hoffman, Barrie and Fleury will cost more. What about trying to get Duclair with McDavid and offer him 3M times 3 or Carl Sodenberg but this time 3M times 2. On defense we need one RD plus one LD. If you keep Larsson on 1RD, put Bear on 2RD, then you need a 3RD in case Bouchard is not ready what about Mdison Bouwey at 750K last year he made 1M, on the left side what about Erik Gustafsson at 1.5M as he made 1.2 last year and had 29 points in 66GP and also offer 750K to Michael del Zotto as extra D. For Fleury i agree as long as Vegas keep 50% of salary so dump a 4th in 2022. Ok so what it look like for numbers. You trade Neal plus the 5M still on our cap space so it should be 10.750M. 3M for 1LW, 3RD 750K, 3LD 1.5M and 7D 750K. ok 3 plus 1.5 plus 750k plus 750K is 6M wow still over 4M to find a 3LW ok so what about Derrick Brassard at 1.5M for 2 years.

Duclair McDavid Kassian
RNH Draisaitl Yamamoto
Brassard Turris Puljujarvi
Ennis Khaira Chiasson

Nurse Larsson
Russell Bear
Gustafsson Bowey
Del Zotto

Koskinen
Fleury

Madison Bowey is interesting.. guy used to be a solid d-man in Kelowna, with fast wheels.. expected him to become a solid NHL'er.. Duclair is also solid IMHO .. as long as he's not a head case.. he's bounced around quite a bit with the amount of talent and pedigree he's had.. sometimes an indication of personality issues.. last thing you need..

You need to keep LTIR free in case he comes back before the end of the season

Hoffman will be too expensive and Barrie i am not sold on that guy that is why i was replacing him with Duclair who is only 24 and had 40pts last year, also he can skate. He will be cheaper to sign and maybe with the McDavid effect he will produce more. Hoffman is one dimensional and has no defense whatsoever. Duclair and Brassard could be had for about 4.5M instead of 10M for Hoffman and Neal for slightly lower point production.

Love it, this was one of the few guys who gave a damn in the playoff ('till he got squished). Love this signing.

Is he OK tho? No permanent damage?

Glad to have him back and another good value signing by the Oilers.

Third line of Ennis / Turris / Puljujarvi looks much better than that third line looked a few days ago. (Unless Ennis gets time on the first line, which is also a possibility).

Oilers doing good work (so far) today.

That does look like a productive 3rd line and 3 can move up and down the lineup and play complimentary roles.

That can't be your 3rd line. 3rd line need to be stoppers. All 3 of those guys are, uh, lets just say, not the best defensively.

You obviously aren’t aware of the defensive chess matches that take place in the Finnish league.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

I think that CAN be the case but doesnt have to be. IMO your third line can be a bit of a wild card. If you have the personnel for a true shut down line great, if you dont then having a third line to push play up ice is a great plan.
Especially playing behind McDavid and Drai they should get some pretty cake matchups. This team has had almost zero depth scoring for so long I am excited to (maybe) have some.

I dont think you can win a cup with full on run and gun 80's Oilers hockey but having three lines that are a threat to score will be a nightmare for other coaches.
