Oilers have an ECHL affiliate again... the Wichita Thunder.

Just like having an AHL organization is important for player development, so too is having an ECHL organization. Good to see.

The Thunder were the ECHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators last season.

...surprised Wichita would have anything to do with the Edmonton Oilers, but I guess after 35 years, maybe all is forgiven...

....always been fascinated by the way the Oilers develop (or don't develop) players....The Wichita Wind seemed like a parting gift that Peter Pocklington gave to Larry Gordon when he lost out to Glen Sather to becoming General Manager in the early years of the Oilers joining the NHL...the Wind were like something out of the movie Slapshot and it seemed to be the beginning of some real sloppy farm system management by the Oilers....I admit I had to look up the old newspaper reports of the ruckus in Dallas...

I love that John Muckler, the coach, was one of those arrested.

Also amazing that the one player is described as fighting all the way to jail, and then fighting the jail guards.
