This game was as good as sex.

Currently stuck on a staff residential, with no tv and crappy net coverage. Been following on twitter and here. So glad I've been able to record this game, so looking forward to watching when I get home. Sweeping the Flames and getting the nod to book my holidays to Canada, starting in Edmonton.... what a good few hours it's been.

3 Larsson points!

Nice to see the 2nd line explode. Ebs is looking confident.

haha flames. They are so screwed for the rest of their schedule now. They've been playing backup goalies every other night (again tonight), playing bad teams, tired teams. Now they have to go on a run of actual hockey, and zero rest hockey for the last month of the season.

Suck it Flames! If for no other reason, this season can not officially be considered a success with a sweep of the Flames.

Geez, when was the last time this team was 11 games over .500? 05/06 I guess.

Think they said during the same we haven't been this much above .500 at this point in the season since the 80's. 05/06 had the nice run at the end of the season to get the win % up to close out 13 games over.

Condors score 4 in the 3rd to come back from a 3-2 deficit to make it a double spanking against the Calgary teams.
Tkachuk is such a knob. Loved it when he tried to run Drai and ended up on his butt.

Just watched the game and although I do agree that Tkachuk is a tool, that was not worthy of a 10 minute misconduct. Not complaining because screw the Flames, but if we are talking about consistency among the refs, I HIGHLY doubt that is consistently called as a 10 minute misconduct.

I was all giddy tonight with the beat down of the Flames and expected the same type of excitement with the players then watched this interview with McDavid and realize we have a Captain Serious (Jonathan Towes) with 3 times the skill. It actually puts me at ease. Connor is not going to celebrate until he reaches his ultimate goal. At the end of the day there is still over 30 games left so being only a few points ahead of 9th isn't really a big deal. The C is on the right player and I still can't believe the Oilers have him.

Also this comment was made on another site but I just had to share it, it was a game day thread and on Hockey Night In Canada they showed a goal Keith Tkachuk scored off his face not wearing a mouth guard:

Quote:

Keith Tkatchuk probably should've worn a mouth guard there.

After watching this goonery I wish he wore a condom as well.

Refs got tired of the little puke, he was going to injure someone, and/or turn the game into a gong show, he tried to run LD when he was off balance and in a vulnerable position after the tie up with Frolik, little puke thought he'd get free shot, LD just shrugged him off like a s**t fly.

Little Puke goes out to injure guys, like he slew footed Davidson, he'll get his face filled eventually, by someone, can't wait.

Kelly Rhudey with the "I like the 2 hand slash to the legs to let them know you're frustrated and will go down fighting" was utterly embarrassing. He is a horrible "analyst" or game commentator, whatever the ****. This was in reference to Tkachuk I think, slashing I can't remember who to the back of the legs on the partial breakaway. He doesn't even pretend to be impartial when the Oilers are playing somebody, let alone the Flames. Garbage hockey personality.

This was one of the better officiated games I've seen this year. Since their coach didn't want to bench Tkachuk, the refs did. Kid was an idiot tonight.
That was great game management by the officials.

Speaking as an Oilers fan, I wanted him out there all night tho.

In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.

Not me, the more he got stupid the more I wanted him off the ice.
I am glad he had ten mins to cool off.
Then I am pretty sure the coach took care of the rest as he only has one of two shifts after he got out.
It is a guy like him that takes a run at McDavid, Talbot or anyone else and ends their season just because he thinks he has a point to prove.
He reminds me a bit of Sean Avery at times.

Yeah, 10 mins is almost always for running your mouth or saying something nasty to another player that the refs overhear. I'm sure it was well earned.

5 games under .500 from here on our gives us a 65% chance still. 99.4% if we just play .500 the rest of the way.

McLellan said they haven't had a real practice for 3 weeks because of this Jan schedule. Lots and lots of rest and days off coming up in Feb, lots of time to practice. Even though most games in feb are on the road, this should be a good chance to tidy up our play, and we haven't been a bad road team anyways.

March is almost all at home. Hardest part is a 3 game in 4 day sequence, but the last 2 of those are against Colorado.

I never liked his Dad's attitude as a player and looks like it rubbed off on him. It was sweet seeing him bounce off Dr.Dre like a Peterbilt then sit for a cheap shot and running his big mouth.

What a game, just think if Puljujarvi was selected by Columbus, Tkachuk would have been selected by the Oilers, I'm happy with Jesse as he is currently finding his groove in the AHL.

This game had it all, grit, finesse, animosity against the flames, and atmosphere. The Oilers has the flames in their sights the entire game. LB looked shaky in some saves but others he was stellar, but it's a great win for the former flames prospect!

The Oilers for the first time in history for either team, have won all games during the season - a sweep! Now with a predicted 98.5 chance for making the playoffs? WOW! I expected the Oilers to challenge making the playoffs, not BE in the playoffs, but the arrows pointed north a little sooner than I predicted.

Slepyshev has made some great strides this season with being demoted and then promoted, I think next season he will be full time in the NHL.

How much do I enjoy Kassian as an Oiler? Very much. As a member of an opposing team? Not so much.

Larsson, the price was high to get him, but he's our best D.

7-3 drubbing! L.O.V.E. IT!

Rumour had it that the Oilers were going to take Sergachev with the fourth overall had the Blue Jackets done what was expected and picked Puljujarvi. That might have been a reach pick at #4...althoguh he does look like he's an offensively gifted d-man.

May have been a reach at 4, but for once it would've been a player they really needed.

Yeah, that's not really the best way to spend high draft picks. You can't intentionally leave players you believe are better on the board because they don't play the right position for you. That's how you end up looking stupid later on, when the guy you predicted to be better actually turns out to be better.

Also, how long is it going to take an 18 year old offensive defenceman to develop to the point where you can trust him in a significant position on your team? If it's several years, then you don't know what your team might look like when he finally is ready. Another more developed or better offensive defenceman may have already become available and filled the hole.

With high draft picks, you have to get your scouts to rank them and then you live by that ranking regardless of position or need. (And if your scouts differ from all the publications significantly - ie. they want you to draft Jesse Niinimaki at #15 overall - then you have to really question them on their assumptions and make sure that you believe their reasoning for that ranking.)

Not to break down on this good time post, but didn't the flames beat us 5-0 in 2014-15? and 6-0 in 2010? If I'm reading this right? http://www.mcubed.net/nhl/edm/cal.shtml

I gave you an alternative fact. icon_lol

You could be right, but I was reading this from the Calgary Herald:

Quote:

In the storied history of the Battle of Alberta, the Oilers had never before managed a sweep of the regular-season series, in part because the two troupes would hook up as many as eight times per winter in the past. (Edmonton won seven of eight in 1983-84, with the other affair ending in a tie.)

http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hockey/oilers-too-much-for-f lames-sweep-season-series

So really it's the Oilers have never beat the Flames in season series, but the Flames did it. To be fair to the Oilers, in 2014-2015 the the team was playing every other team above their grade.

....."The Oilers are skating at Rogers Place before they depart for Anaheim.

Lines at practice are:

Maroon - McDavid - Draisaitl

Pouliot - Nugent-Hopkins - Eberle

Lucic - Caggiula - Slepyshev

Hendricks - Letestu - Kassian

Anton Lander is rotating in.".....

.....no big surprises or changes.....guess any adjustments will depend on how the boys feel when they land in rainy Southern California...

98.9, after the Kings and Flames lost last night. I'm going to have a prophylactic ECG to make sure my heart can handle a playoff run.
