Nuge should be a winger.
Looks good playing with Drai. His shot has been good this year. Need to get that boy more shooting opportunities.

Nuge looked good with Nathan MacKinnon at the WC I am surprised it took so long for this pairing to happen. If it were me ( and it will never be ) I'd move Lucic to this line and move Maroon or Pou tp McDavid's line.

So caught with the game this morning, possibly the worst first period I've seen us play for some time, just couldn't get the puck under control, but we kept it tight. We improved as the game went on but it didn't look like we were going to pull it back. Maroon had a great game, always in the faces and putting in that extra home town effort, so glad he got the goal.
As for OT, thought McDavid's previous shift was going to be his last after he nearly let them in, but he came back and redeemed himself, with that pass, but credit to that line as it was a team goal. On to them in the desert. Another win would be good, but we know what our record is against them, so another OT win it looks like we'll have to hope for.
It's so good to have the Oilers being shown on UK tv all week, the last time it was this good, was back in 06...
If opportunity doesn't knock, build a door.

A 2nd straight win in OT: I'll take it, and so will the Oil. Good start to the road trip, hopefully they can really get another string going before the holidays....

Sekera doesn't get a star. Saved about 3 sure goals. Was a stud all night. Loving this guy lately.
Good well fought win.

Sekera played an unreal OT. That defensive play on Fabbri and turnaround rush was a thing of beauty.

Hard working win.
Sekera, Maroon, Drai, large games. Kassian.....how good is it to have a guy like Kassian on the 4th line? Gryba in his return.....solid, no panic, and some size.
Nuge with the big winner. Love it. The guy needs a goal like that. I think he might have been instrumental in the turnover in the first goal against....I missed it, but played very well thereafter. I really like using Nuge to load up with either McDavid or Draisatl.
Really sad to see Pitlick go down to a freak toe-pick. I'm guessing sprained ankle. Guy was scoring every 3rd game played. Where are those goals going to come from if he's out for any length of time.
Big, big win. Sets them up to win this little road trip going into Christmas. Slay that damn dragon in Arizona.....they need to pound that hockey team.

Yes they need to POUND THEM!!! Like 8-1 pounding to rid themselves of that terrible team!

- Andrej Sekera had an awesome game. Liked what I saw from Draisaitl, Maroon, Pitlick, and Davidson tonight too. McDavid didn't play his greatest game, and yet still had several moments that left you shaking your head wondering how he did that.
- I really like Davidson's tendency to get the puck through to the net.
- That fourth line with a real stinker of a shift that nearly cost the game late in the third again. Would be great to get away from that.
- Feel awful for Pitlick, and hoping it isn't a serious as it seemed to be heading off the ice. Kid FINALLY gets healthy, is playing the best hockey of his career, is carving out an NHL role, and it gets thrown off track again by injuries. Just no luck. Probably the best Oiler tonight before the injury.
- I'm not sold on Gryba's hockey sense. First game back, but he tends to get lost sometimes, IMO.
- Two wins against the Blues this year. Sitting nice in the Pacific. Meaningful games for Christmas!!

Someone get some Stortini blood for Pitlick. He deserves a better fate. Just turning the corner.
Great 2 points tonight.

Vs West: 12-4-3
Vs East: 5-8-2
Winning where it counts. Unfortunately, some of our crappiest finishes to games happened vs the East this year. We where probably a total of 6 minutes of hockey away from having an even or better record vs the East.
Still, quite a change in our western record.
Last year we had 14 wins vs the west (14-29-7). Year before we had 9 (9-30-11).

Drai 11th in league scoring.
Such a bum without Hall!
Wonder what his extension will cost. Nuge and Ebs are helping his agent be able to argue a simple 6M AAV floor on anything long term, probably a bit higher.

I agree with your comments about Nuge being a winger. When he was on Drai's line, that line was good and Nuge was flying.

Pretty emotional moment with Maroon when he sees his son celebrating his goal:

And, don't miss the epic Pizza-Party appearance right at the end :) Minus the Pizza this time of course.

Maroon's been quietly showing himself to be one of the best moves Chia's made so far for this team. Hard-hitting, hard-working, and capable of chipping in the occasional key goal- just a great pickup, and he cost, what, a draft pick or two? Thanks, Anaheim!

Maybe if the Oilers end up giving Mr. Maroon a bit of term he can move his fams to Edmonton.
The cash, even at journeyman-type salaries, makes it easier, but it's got to be difficult basically being apart for the better part of the year from your wife and kids. I know some of us live that type of lifestyle for a lot less, I have myself in the past to earn a living, and it sucks.

Apparently the reason is he is separated from the mother. Which probably makes it even tougher for him to get some time with him during the season, and likely even off-season.

I have a daughter who used to live with her mom (now she lives with me) so I too know what it's like. Pat Maroon just became one of my favorite people in the NHL after seeing that.

I wonder who on St Louis we could trade Maroon for and get equal value?

I have a good friend that beat a pretty nasty addiction and Kassian reminds me of him. From appearances he really appreciates being back in pro hockey and having a life back. He always sounds grateful to the Oilers for giving him a chance.
For this clip, we dont know what was said but it has all the look of Kassian calling something to happen and then celebrating an "I told you so" moment. Either way, I love it, and you can tell everyone on the bench does as well.

The clip ends about 3 seconds too early as right after this a STL player skates by and he says something to him. Haaa. I was probably one of the biggest supporters when we got him, I'm glad it's working out for him. Hopefully he can keep away from his addiction as well. He seems like a great guy to be around , full of energy.

To me that picture shows a TEAM. A bunch of guys who like one another, want to play for one another and look out for one another. Until this season, the Oilers have been a collection of players, not a team.

This was a gut out win. A great win.
This isn't one of those puffy-the-morning-frost-happy-go-lucky because the Oilers won, but a team win. It's been a while since I saw a win as a team, well actually if I'm being honest most of the Oiler wins have been a team game, with a few outliers of Connor or Talbot stealing one. It's a great change.
Pitlick - damn son. I think I read that he's in a cast to his hip. If that's true, he must be done for the year..
Sekera must of had his wheaties, because the boy was making the moves last night in the back end, and then he generates the winning goal for RNH? Great game.
Maroon. I sometimes forget that these players of ours are people too and that interview, well, I need to go cut some onions... stupid feelings.
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

That video of Maroon got me in the feels too.
The Oilers need these kind of character guys in the dressing rooms. You can't argue the size as well with him and Kassian.
Man i hope Chia is thinking extending Kassian. I know he can be had for a decent cost. Then i can go out and buy his jersey, he's my favorite Oiler. If I typed that 5 years ago I would have jumped off a bridge.

Crazy how things change. I've got lots of Canuck fan friends..... They think he's a big loser, underachiever, waste of space now. I can see him being a disappointment if he's playing on your top line and you're expecting 25G/75 points out of him, but he's a perfect 4th liner who can skate, kill penalties, stick up for teammates, agitate, AND still move up the lineup when needed. He's also got just a little bit of "crazy" in him which is nice when you're not playing against him. I'm very happy how he's turned out so far.
