I'm 0 for probably 20 when I change my mind on game day in the score prediction thing.

We can take credit for the win by changing our picks...I feel your pain.

Well, living in the wrong half of Canada where the fans of the foliage reside, I'll more than take it! Enjoyed it and will have to put up the carflag tommorow- just to miff the people around here.
Other than that- could have easily gone the other way. If you took away the neutral zone, well played game from the Oil.

Joanie?
Small victories. There were enough tonight to beat a poor NHL team.
Not alot, but enough. Gift goal and a lucky bounce too. At the very least, I don't hafta hear it from Leafs's fans for the next few days!

Nice win because I was SURROUNDED by leaf fans. I'm waiting in the walkout (waiting for a whistle) when one guy in a leaf jersey noticed my Team Canada (Gagner) jersey. He looks at the back and says "is this guy on the junior team this year?" I said it's Sam Gagner...Oiler? ... MVP of the Russia/junior series????? Ring a bell??
He says "well, how would I know, I'm not an Oiler fan" His buddy tells him to stop being an a-hole!!!
Funny exchange.

Good for you, Joanie!
That's showin' spirit, alright!
Stupid Leafs' fans, ;)... did you join in the chorus to drown the TOR fans out?
Were there a bit of boos aimed at Horcoff out there? In the first 'fore the Oilers got that late one?

I joined in a lot. We get to the games early and I thought I had walked into ACC by mistake. I didn't hear any booing of Horcoff.

That used to piss Sather off big time.
It kinda curtailed for awhile but with Mecca growin' population-wise the last few years and the Leafs only here once in awhile, the Oilers suckin' this decade, the situation is outta control now.
Thanx for the good information on Horcoff. I trust you.
Have a good night. Sleep well.

The big screen had a couple of the Mac vs. PC-style adds with Edmonton vs. Toronto guy. Pretty funny stuff. I went to the game with a Leafs fan buddy of mine and he thought they were clever too.
Always nice to win when there's several thousand cheering for the wrong side. They got pretty quiet after the 3-0 goal, although the Oilers shut it off about then and just about let the Leafs back in it.
First line had another poor performance, but O'Sullivan comes out of no where to score a couple big goals. And Jacques had another strong game, ran over everything that moved and had a pretty decent scrap too.

Those clips were really funny. Perhaps the Oilers have hired some new people for the game day stuff?

I forgot my new password (dumbkoff!) and ended up watching the game right here on a wooden chair with one of my doggie's curled up somewhat uncomfortably on me lap for half the game!

You have to admire the dedecation the Leafs fans have to their team kudos to them, I find it somewhat ironic that Brule #67 scored against them.
June 2006"Goalie's not good. Won't be back in the series."
June 2010 "With the historic first selection in the national hockey league draft 2010, I'm extremely excited to select ..."

Hmmm... I'm failing to see the relevance of the Brule comment. Maybe I missed something... can you explain?
I'm not trying to bug you; I'm actually interested in the train of thought.

Disappointing. Someone clearly broke some sort of routine and thus the streak killed. We were on a big roll too, going seven straight and reeling in even the Canes before tonight. Now this unnecessary night puts an extra two points between us and Carolina and at the end of the season this will be doubtless lumped in as one of dozens games we should have had in the bag but will keep us out of the Taylor Cup, but I don't think it will get enough credit. It's in the middle of the season and easy to forget, but these are two points we could have had on Carolina.
And really, Carolina of all teams should be the constant reminder that we can't afford to let up. Little things lost us the Stanley Cup against them (thanks, MAB), and now little things may cost us the Taylor Cup.

completely serious, but you fellers have to get it thru your heads this isn't the tonic/cure/elixir to what ails this group.
Man alive, if it's not the HO's tonight it's this!

I'm not being serious?
2007. Last game of the year. We're on pace for 3rd place and in great position to draft. Then we decide to beat Calgary.
Could have had a chance at Kane. Instead we got Gagner, which isn't that bad but you know... c'est la vie.
Every game matters. You need to be consistent, determined, not let any opportunity pass you up, whether you're playing for the Stanley Cup or the Crosby/Tavares/Stamkos/Taylor Cup. In-between only gets you in-between results for years on end. Playing for 8th place every year? You're going to keep drafting talent that keeps you playing for 8th place, unless your team has good scouting (we don't), good management (we don't), or is attractive to free agents (we aren't).

The Oilers beat CAL yeah, and CHI takes the spot the Oilers woulda had and wins the lottery? Moves up the four places?
Isn't that how it went down?
edit note: four positions, not five.

Exactly.
Every game matters. We're not winning the Cup this season or the next or the one after that or any time in the foreseeable future. Why we're bothering with anything but a Pittsburgh/Washington/Chicago/Islanders strategy is beyond me. Fail. Fail hard. Fail hard for years on end. Draft three first overall picks (OilersCrosby/OilersMalkin/OilersFleury) and few other top 5s just to round things out. Where even your pathetic scouting department can't fail.
And then?
Then you can have Marc Crawford coaching and he'll remind you what a great coach and Stanley Cup winner he is when he's surrounded by talent like OilersSakic, OilersForsberg, OilersHejduk, OilersFoote and OilersRoy - by winning the Cup.
Wow, 2007 was a weird season. Buffalo had the President's Trophy?

Your right. A high draft pick wont cure this team. It needs to be purged. This team is rotten to the core. Time to strip it down to the bones and build it back up. This team has has a Country Club attitude instead of a Hockey Club attitude and that starts with the vets.
Players like Moreau, Staios and even Horcoff among others have overstayed their welcome. They are all effective players but they have become too comfortable here. Time to ship them out. Then identify the youth that can help us compete. If we happen to add a few high picks along the way thats even better. Face it. This team needs a heart and we dont have any donors. Time to pull the plug and start from scratch.
