Good price and really a no risk move.

Well, giving a 8th defenceman a one-way contract (for a year) is a bit of a risk.

How so? One-way & two-way contracts apply to salary only. If a player is waiver eligible they have to clear waivers regardless of their contract status to get sent to the minors.
