By a lot. It's not even close IMO.
Holland should pay whatever it costs to get someone like Varlamov from the Isles for Koskinen plus whoever. He's the right age, has been great everywhere he has played and has a year left after this one, so not just a rental. Then "retire" Smith.
I would be comfortable going in to the playoffs (assuming we make it) with a Varlamov/Skinner tandem.
I just don't see many other solid options from teams out of the playoff picture.

Half those goals going past Smith last night ar eones you might give a pass to in th eoccasional game.. but goals like that are becoming routine.. demoralizes a team the longer it goes on.. since his return from injury there is nothing in Smith's game that inspires confidence... collapses into his net as a default.

Yeah, in a vacuum, a lot of those goals weren't terrible, but the fact is in 13 starts he has 7 in which he let in 4 or more and finished under .900 (including .429 and .818 in the last 2). It's not the exception at this point. We are going nowhere with those 2.

I don't think Koskinen should be dismissed because Smith has underperformed this year. Koskinen has been pretty good when utilized as a back up with an appropriate amount of playing time.
Please do not feed the bears. Feeding the bears creates a dependent population unable to survive on their own. Bears.
