Another one! I'd sure like to see some job losses this way. Sigh....

Buffalo is not good. A hot 6 weeks fooled everybody. I've never been a fan of Housley but this was a rough situation. On a positive note, they get $10 million is dead cap off the books in the Moulson and Pommenville contracts. Okposo deal is still there, worse than the Lucic deal.

And the leading, or one of the leading, candidates to replace Phil Housley? This guy.

https://www.tsn.ca/mclellan-lead-candidate-for-sabres-vacanc y-1.1287171

"TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports that Todd McLellan is a leading - if not the leading - candidate for the vacancy.

In reference to my pal Eric’s report, here’s my understanding of the situation: Todd McLellan is a leading candidate if not THE leading candidate to replace Phil Housley as BUF HC. McLellan has also been in negotiation with LA and the Kings appear to remain in the mix. https://t.co/ZengSbqUR5

Further to my colleagues @TSNBobMcKenzie and @eduhatschek reports on Todd McLellan, Kings still in the mix for McLellan at this hour but Sabres scheduled to meet with him this week and very interested in hiring him...

Buffalo has some nice pieces to work with, but so did Edmonton. That didn't turn out so grand.

Since McLellan looks to be the Sabres next coach, maybe the Oilers can send him good old "Reggie" to help mentor Dahlin. I think McLellan was a big Sekera fan. I know that the cap is really important these days so why not just trade the Oilers Ristolainen. Cap wise the difference between the two players is 100K. Looks like a win win to me.

And now, according to Bob McKenzie , Todd McLellan is no longer in the running for coach of the Sabres.

McLellan has an interview next week with the Kings; hope he learned something from his Buffalo interview experience.
