A Slovakian hockey player for the Edmonton Oilers has been reprimanded for a minor doping violation at the Vancouver Olympics.

The IOC said Sunday that Lubomir Visnovsky tested positive for a stimulant contained in a cold medication.

Not really that big of a deal. Not like he is doing steroids or elicit drugs. It is cough medicine!!

Isn't it quite common for hockey players to take Sudafed etc before games for energy & clear breathing? Not that it's technically allowed...

I mean, you won't collapse or anything but after four or five of 'em you'll feel just like Mick Jagger on the 1972 North American Tour!

Lub, Khabi, that's the present day Oilers. It would be painful to watch one of their hockey games, now.

You're seriously upset with Lubo over this story?

My goodness, I hope not!

Why would they waste their time checking any of the Oilers for performance enhancing drugs?

All I have to say is... so?

The substance in Advil Cold&Sinus was added to the list of banned substances in 2010 so I don't blame Lubo for claiming ignorance. He really do that either since I claimed he was taking it. It's a nothing story.

I still respect him a lot for what he did in the olympics, he's a great player and I'm glad we have him.

The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.

Generally Disappointed.

The title of this thread is misleading and of the gossip column variety.

Visnovsky told the Olympic commitee he was taking a cold medicine with a ban substance in it. They told him he shouldn't have, but let him play because it wasn't a significant enough concern.
