...JDD gets denied the SO as Arnott deflects Hornqvist's centering feed through #38's 5-hole. Times remain awesome but not quite so much.

They say a six-goal lead is the hardest to defend...

I was much happier with this year's 2-1-1 team than I was with last year's 4-0 team.

It almost seems like slowly but surely they are awakening from the spell MacT put them under. Tonight's team looks nothing like any MacT team from the past few years.

Certain things are strating to solidify. There is so much more movement on the PP. All the systems seem to be based on keeping everyone's feet moving.

I am also starting to wonder if Quinn's systems expose some of Gilbert's weaknesses more than MacTavish's did. And he is not off to a great start offensively either.

Grebeshkov looks fantastic.

Preach on my brother!! I think the big difference this year is that last year's squad felt they were owed success and this year - although early seems like they know if they want that brass ring they have to go out and earn it!! Get the bounces going our way and we could do some damage!!
Will be interesting to see how Khabby responds against his old team next game in Chicago!!

Argh, another late-period goal. I know being up 6, it's not a big deal, but still. Would rather have them pot one at another time.

I'd like to see a little more urgency from #83 when we don't have the puck.

I'll cut Hemmer some slack tonight based on our lead and setting up that Horcoff goal!!
Besides - isn't he a little banged up right now?!

Plus we shouldn't get too comfortable. Flames were up 5-0 on Chi, and now it's 5-4.

Do we dare to dream a Chi-town comeback!!? I don't want to jinx it but with the Stamps losing today as well I would likely have a stroke!! icon_biggrin

I just tried to get an update from CalCemetary and they've crashed the site.

It would be nice if they had their own Debacle of Monumental Proportions...

I can't help but think that with their top line not really producing - lacking depth and the fact that Kipper will get tired down the line with a lack of a quality backup - a losing streak is pretty much assured for the Flames!! icon_wink

Honestly, with regards to the local team (for me) I'd much prefer they have a great regular season and then flop in the post season.

It's been good fodder for trash talk at the office (almost exact convo I had thrice last spring):
FF: so oilers miss the playoffs again...hahaha stupid coilers (or any other stupid name they learned on the net)
Me: Yah, and the Flames with the same amount of series wins as the Oilers over that time
FF: but at least we made the playoffs!
Me: Yah, but the Flames are kind of like my high school prom, I went, but the girl i took went home with another guy (not that i cared, but that's not relevant here).

What's going on? The Oil up 6-1, the Lafs get thrashed and have yet to win a game this year, the Flamers chocking in epic proportions, one of the twisted sisters breaking a foot- seriously- could there be a better tonic for all the bad we've endured over the last few years?

5-5 Flames and Hawks. Terrible for the Flames.

Did anybody noticed that the Preds directed 40 shots at JDD tonight?

Sure comforting to know if Khabby starts to show his age down the road that JDD can come in and fill in admirably!!

Wow, 40 shots on JDD (40-17?). He's made a few nice saves, but it sure doesn't seem like that many shots on him.

I was in diapers!! lol
What will be interesting now is to see how they follow this up against the Hawks on Wednesday. Will this game instill confidence against an arguably better team then the Preds in the Hawks or will that old sense of entitlement creep back in!!?
But I digress - let's simply relish in this win tonight before we scrutinize the next game!! lol
