Colorado's stars showing our stars how it's done. They were all over us in that first period.

McDavid playing his blasé style of hockey right now isn't good enough. Leon wasn't quick enough when he had the puck. MacK and Makar were freaking lightning out there.

Big time

Really wish Skinner would have made those first two saves

This team would be a lot better with a goalie that’s a bit better, if that makes any sense.

I get that he’s been to game 7 of the SCF, but his #’s are sketch AF in the postseason. He has a great game, then lets in 3 bad goals 2 nights later. And to me he just isn’t as calm and cool in big games (like tonight) as the media constantly harps.

They got there in spite of him not because of. He collapsed in the second round two years in a row and once in the first round.

But the media love him and he has a cool moustache.

I will say in is defence he isn't paid to be elite so it isn't really fair to expect him to be. But they better keep pickard warm once the playoffs start because they are going to need him.

Yep. People who repeat that he "took them to game 7 of the SCF" are delusional. The truth is if they had a good to very good goalie they are probably the two time defending champs right now. That's not all Skinners fault - he is who he is - but it's annoying when people pretend that he is something he isn't.

While I hate to agree with the media, I think he is calm and cool, even when he plays terrible. It can be a good quality but I would like them to add some consistency to that description. Skinner is what he is, a mid goalie with the capability of hot streaks and just as capable of cold streaks.

Back to reality, were I think the team media is terrible. They like Skinner so dont talk about inconsistency, bad early goals, or long stretches where he is weak in one spot (IE high glove). If he ends up in the doghouse of the media they will turn his calm, cool demeanor persona on it's head and it will be a negative, not enough compete, not a battler, not enough fire, etc.

As usual, good or bad, nothing quantifiable, just labels based on feelings because they know that anything they say quantifiable would make it too easy to show how clueless and/or biased the takes are.

Was there a better sign that teams are getting the book on our PP that has been trying all the same tricks for 4+ years in a row? Gulutzan just chilling with the same top unit doing all the same things forever. In a lot of way Colorado exposing our habits tonight.

Ya, that was a bad one. I think it shows when the team and individuals get locked in on a play. The Oilers run that same PP breakout time and again, the Av that made the steal was just waiting on it the whole way.
Bouchard needs to read that and just turn on the jets, a PK cheating like that creates a serious mismatch in the Oilers favor, on gaining the zone to set up the PP. I feel like this is something coached at 15 years old, the team needs to be better at this easy stuff.

Two power plays and only like 5 or 6 shots this period. Not great. Granted if Skinner made those first two initial saves, we would be winning this

Great. Nurse penalty for a hip check on someone with the puck. Apparently hip check is tripping.
