First that is a icing so it should have been called and the play is dead. Second, the Tampa guy hit Barrie from behind and he rammed into the boards almost feet first. He's lucky he didn't shatter his leg. Is that not a similar play to what created the hybrid icing in the first place? I can't remember the name but I remember a dman going after a puck on an icing, he gets drilled and got seriously hurt. I can accept missing a ticky tack slash but when a guy could get seriously hurt, you need to call that!! Barrie is really lucky to not be badly hurt!

Officials have their performance graded nightly so I suspect he'll get to have a discussion with his boss about that non-call. My hope is that will not be a fun conversation for him. I would like officials (or officials supervisors) to discuss interesting calls so we could understand their reasoning and what they saw, but that is unlikely. I could also be wrong about the rule specifics. I think if the defender has position at the hashmarks, icing is called. Maybe there's a piece of nuance I don't understand.
I'm also semi-annoyed the Tampa player stuck his stick into Barrie's feet and caused him to crash into the boards.
