For game 1, barring in mind Leon and Connor on their own lines obviously makes the team deeper, this is what the Musty’tron 3600 spat out a few moments ago.

97 had 91-56 as wingers down the stretch and they dominated.

18 and 13 both great in d zone for the injured Drai, also JP’s ability to takeaway and Hyman possession ability to hold puck in ozone while Drai hobbles up the ice

37-93-10 were a solid line at several points of the season for the oil. Foegs needs to get going but the kid scored double digits and has shown he can hold his own physically. 93 and 10 split f/o dependent on side.

15 and 44 are fast and can bang. 71 provides even more speed as this line attacks the flames and punishes on the forecheck

D pairs are what we’ve seen essentially since Kulak acquired.

Smith starts, obviously.

To put JP on the second line, I am assuming you know that JP will ramp up his intensity level for this series? I would guess that the reason he isn't playing more is his lack of intensity. This is the playoffs where every play matters. Players are expected to play harder and do things out of their comfort zone. If you don't block shots in the regular season, you block shots now. If you don't hit guys in the regular season, you hit guys now. McD doesn't hit very often in the regular season, he's running guys in the playoffs. JP has the ability to be an impact player with his size, skating ability and skill but a lot of times, he lumbers around the ice at times awkwardly. He is good at making some subtle plays and good at stealing pucks but he plays on the perimeter and relies on his sheer size to shield pucks rather than battling hard. His shot is meh and he isn't overly accurate so he needs to go to the paint to score and with his size, he should able to get their with ease and when there, he would be hard to move but he doesn't really like contact as much as you'd think a guy his size would be OK with and doesn't use his massive body like he should. He doesn't skate hard on the forecheck, he gets there when he gets there. When the puck is shot into the corner, dmen should be looking over their shoulder trying to get rid of the puck as fast as they can because they know a giant in JP is barreling down on them but they don't worry because they know they have lots of time and even if JP gets there, he will pass up the check most times. He very much lacks any kind of intensity in his game and plays more of a just happy to be there type of game.

I see day after day guys posting about Archibald and how "bad his advanced numbers are" and of course JP's are great. Well Archibald and all of his "bad numbers" flies around the ice. He skates as hard as he can. He gets in hard and fast on the forecheck and the dmen are looking over their shoulders trying to get rid of it because they know he's coming and they will get hammered. In the playoffs, that stuff matters. Not just on the Oilers, go look at ever single team. I don't hate JP, I think there is a player there but he's an extremely frustrating player which I am sure the coaches feel the same frustration. He has a god given hockey players body on top of being a good skater and with some skill. If he just would ramp up the intensity even 2/3 as much as an Archibald, he'd be a force. I am happy to be here style might work on a Tuesday night in game 41 against the Yotes, doesn't cut it in the playoffs.
