In the first game I thought that had we got a goal at some point we'd fly straight back at them and make a game of it, the second game less so, but with the little bit of edge in the last 5 minutes or so I felt that they'd come out all guns blazing in the third game to restore some pride and show us that they'd been hurt.
How wrong was I!!! That was shockingly below standards last night. No emotion, no battle, no grit and it seemed from so many no desire. We know we weren't going to go 56-0 and that we'll get beat, lose a few in the season. After a rocky start we'd won 11 of 13, confidence should be sky high. This team looked as bad as anything we put out from 2007 onward. Devoid of hope, effort, ideas, I honestly couldn't think of anything to say during the game that I'd post anywhere that wouldn't be considered highly offensive (more offensive than the team I'd add).
Koski has to be done with the team, otherwise why not pull Smith during the 2nd? The 3 goals that Koski gave up on Saturday were as poor as those that Smith allowed. Tippet has obviously loss faith in him and we'll see him gone sooner rather than later I suspect. I don't mind Tippet using a blender to try and spark something, but rotating it as much as he did, no one got any sort of chemistry going, nor did they seem to get anything more than 2 shifts before it was blended again.
It said it all for me, when we scored, the goal horn started later than normal as if even those in control of it were surprised we'd scored. That's how bad it had got.
We move on the next BOA over the weekend, any other game and I'd be seriously asking myself should I just record the game rather than getting up to watch at 3am.. However, it's a BOA and so I'll get up and watch with the hope that they can bounce back after this week and show us something akin to how they were playing prior to this series.
I guess, the only thing I can cling to after this series is that should we make the play-off's and should we play the Leafs, we surely can't play 3 games as bad as we just have against them? They've totally had to have used all the luck against us in these games...
