No team in the NHL can absorb losing its entire #1 F line:
Neal & McDavid injured & Kassian has been demoted the last few games.
That said, most teams don't have a 2nd line like the one we've had for the last 6 weeks.
There are 2 ways Tippet could approach the lines tonight given that he's got last change.
1) Keep Leon's line intact and simply make it the #1 line
2) Split up Leon & Nuge, have them center lines 1 & 2
I think a case can be made for either strategy, but ultimately I think they will need to have them both at C.
Also, it's time that Kassian steps up his game, and perform as a top 6 forward again.
I would roll out something like this:
Gagner Leon Yamo
Chaisson Nuge Kassian
Khaira Sheehan Archibald
Haas Cave Russell
That ain't no cup winning line-up, but it might spread the offence up enough that the bottom 6 could saw off. Also, if Kassian and Chaisson could both elevate their games to where they have been at times, now would be the time to flip that switch.
