There doesn’t even need to be an injury situation- all a good team needs to do is to shut down Drai/Connor and force the rest of the team to beat them. The Wild and Hawks, both of whom are still languishing near the bottom of the conference standings, have already demonstrated this effectively.
|
Yep, this team is already in an extreme situation. They have figured out 29 and 97 are the 1-2 punch and if they nullify them, they win.
Management should start getting squirmy now.
|
Management knew it would be like this. Chia left the next regime nothing to work with. I give credit to Holland for not panicking, but trying to patch something useful together. I think most of us knew this season was going to be challenging.
|
Correct, most of us knew it would be challenging, save for the small group in the pom pom brigade. I also give credit to Holland for the change he has been able to make so far. Lastly credit to all of them for having the record they do, in the end all that matters is the points column
I do think though, even in a growth year, you owe it to the team to push to improve. My biggest worry in not moving players out of that bottom 6 is that complacency grows. Guys are just happy to be along for the ride and get too comfortable in their roles.
There seems to be zero improvement from the lot of them. Take Khaira as an example. He had a rough year last year and doesnt look good this year. What harm is done in sitting him down and giving someone else a chance?
Certain jobs (McDavid and Drai) are safe for obvious reasons. I want a team, regardless of preseason goals, that is always scrapping to earn or keep a job. The longer this team goes icing an almost identical lineup, and getting identical results, the worse it will be long term for the plan to build a competitive and winning team culture.
