Trade: NYD get Ryan Graves from Colorado in exchange for NYD forward Mikhail Maltsev and NYDs second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft..

That's pretty cheap ..

Personal take, Graves a recipient of the Avs bump. Decent 2nd pair guy but doubt he’ll be viewed with the same lens as now after the season in New Jersey.

I’d take him over Keith!

But, the intangibles Adam!?

Gimme Keith 🤷🏻‍♂️ I’m standing by it. (Though, I am still shocked there was no retention but c’est la vie).

The NHL world seems awfully quiet tonight... too quiet with expansion lists due in under 48 hours.

Holland should have held out for some retention, at least make Bowman sweat it out until the expansion list deadline, then see where they were at, the expansion list was the real leverage on the Blackhawks, Keith's NMC and who they'd have to make available with Keith on the protect list, but I think most Bowman might've agreed to retain is $2M, its not like Keith was going to retire, or not not play out his contract if he wasn't traded, its not a Taresenko or Eichel type situation, Hawks weren't over a barrel. Holland didn't push it when he could've, and the end result is possibly between $1M-$2M in cap they might've kept for 2 years. Hopefully that $1M to 2M for 2 years won't make the difference on a player addition, or Oiler contract extension, down the line.
TBD

Yeah good price. Had to dump him because of the expansion draft unfortunately. Probably hard now to find takers for a D someone else needs to protect. Unless it's Keith. That trade just trades itself.

Detroit Red Wings @DetroitRedWings
UPDATE: The Detroit #RedWings acquired D Nick Leddy from the New York Islanders in exchange for F Richard Panik and the 52nd selection (originally EDM) in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

One of our picks on the move for Leddy to Detroit.

I sure hope Yzerman didn’t squeeze them. That’s not how you get things done in this league.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Actually Yzerman retained $1.375M on Panik ($2.75M), so NYI save 4.125M in cap dumping Leddy and acquiring Panik.
Detroit gets Leddy for 1 year, with net cap hit same as NYI, $4.125M.

Keith net cap hit next year is $4.65M, minus C. Jones contract (5.5 - 0.85)

Of course, Nick Leddy is 8 years younger and objectively better than Duncan Keith...

I wish we only had one year of that awful Keith cap hit...

As is Nurse. He might not me as highly regarded as Heiskanen but all of Nurse's contract is buying UFA years. This just upped his cost.

Couple nifty moves:

Arizona Coyotes @ArizonaCoyotes

TRADE: We have acquired forward Andrew Ladd, a 2021 2nd round pick, a 2022 conditional 2nd round pick, and a 2023 conditional 3rd round pick from the New York Islanders.

2021 2nd round pick (COL - #60)
2022 conditional 2nd round pick* (NYI)
2023 conditional 3rd round pick** (NYI)
*Conditions: Coyotes receive the better of the two 2022 2nd round picks the Islanders currently hold (NYI, COL)
**Conditions: The 3rd round pick is transferred if Ladd plays in at least 1 game in 2022-23

So at least 2 2nd to dump Ladd. That 3rd probably doesn't get given, since it requires Ladd to play. Ladd is a 5.5M cap hit for 2 seasons. I guess it's pretty darn expensive to dump cap space these days. Unless you're dumping Keith on the Oilers. Teams pay you do to that.

And the other:

3-way trade: PHI NSH VGK
Ryan Ellis to PHI
Cody Glass and Philippe Myers to NSH
Nolan Patrick to VGK

Okay. Ladd has played 4 games in the NHL the last 2 seasons. I get everyone in this fanbase is still twisting their balls about this Keith thing but Ladd doesn’t play anymore. This is purely a dump. Keith can still play. I love ya KR, but man. Give it a break already.

Depends on how Keith plays. Maybe he ends up same as Ladd and we wish he was just sitting out ;)

If Ladd can be convinced to go on LTIR that's an even bigger win for Arizona.

Do you believe Keith is done? Because Ladd is done.

Keith isnt the same player he used to be. No denying it. But he’s not done.

It’s a no brainer for Arizona. Ladd will almost assuredly go on LTIR. It’s free space and draft picks which they’ve lost of late bc of their rule breaking.

It's $4 million each year for 2 years in real money. I don't think he's been injured, just playing in the minors. $8 million for 2 2nd round picks still seems like a big pay.

Leafs get McCann for a 7th rounder and long shot prospect. Pretty close to free

McCann and Dickinson both essentially free. Either or both could have transformed our bottom 6...

I feel like I should say, as much as I support the Keith thing, Holland with a checkbook and cellphone scares the bajeebus out of me.

I can't believe we weren't in on that, for that price, I'd take him over Hyman, and his 6+ year term requirement.

Wherever Hyman goes, his contract will be a boat anchor... hope its not in Edmonton!! icon_eek

I don't even know how that's possible. Doesn't a contract need consideration? Shouldn't they get a dollar or something back?

35 year old 2 time cup winner. Holland is probably flabbergasted by the amount of disrespect the Coyotes are showing in this trade, both to the player and the Islanders org.

I was thinking the same thing. I always thought "Future Considerations" was code for no return, unless you were trading Mark Messier.

Is it just me or is Shae Weber retiring and does that not royally screw over the Preds?

Kinda sketchy if he goes on LTIR after a statement like that.

100% but look at the ‘allergies’ and LTIR pieces in the past.

12M left of salary. Out because of legit injuries. I think he can ride the LTIR train to finish his deal. Just has to hit the gym now and then and act like he is trying to rehab.

Philadelphia send Ghost + 7th round pick + 2nd round pick to Arizona for NOTHING!

https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/coyotes-acquire-shayne- gostisbehere-two-picks-flyers/

So to recap:

A 28 year old $4.5M cap hit with 2 years remaining on his deal COSTS a 7th and a 2nd to DUMP on another team AFTER the expansion draft.

A 38 year old $5.5M cap hit with 2 years remaining costs the ACQUIRING team a decent D prospect (who was protected during the ED) + a 3rd (maybe 2nd) round pick, BEFORE the expansion draft.

Enough of this garbage from Oilers “fans”. It’s embarrassing. Go and cheer for an expansion team if you want. No one cares.

The funny part of this is, I'm mad that the oilers management is ruining/continues to ruin the team I've loved for 30+ years.
You're mad because I expect better and complain because our team is awful despite having the (arguably) greatest player in the league in over 20 years

I think the anger comes from the fact that as a "fan" (short for "fanatic"), you are either an Oiler fan ....... or you are not.

If you are not, get lost.
