Why do they keep throwing Jones out there, thinking he's an NHL calibre D-man?
He's flat out not good enough. Makes bad decisions with the puck, can't pass very well, gets caught out of position wayyy too often. Jones just doesn't have it yet.
Bouchard should absolutely be in over him.

Exactly. Bouchard on his off-hand is way better than Jones.
Jone's brain works too slow, his feet stop when he has the puck and is trying to figure out what to do.
I've heard that he's supposed to be a "puck carrier", but I've never seen it, his skating is average, maybe above average for some on the Oilers, but NHL-wise he's not. Plus he's Charmin soft for a D-man.

I still remember lottery draft day.. I'd just finished watching him in the OHL playoffs and realizing he'd be the best player the NHL had seen in a generation.. and my only hope was that the Leafs wouldn't get him.. didn't even bother hanging around for the draft.. went out for a 3 hour bike ride.. came back and cued up TSN just to see who won the lottery.. and there is a photo of Daily.. holding a gold Oiler placard.. I just started laughing.. couldn't believe it..

The "goals are more important" argument seems to be popular now, as if 8 goals cancels out a difference of 43 assists :)

Flip side of that stat is what gives me pause for the playoffs. Oilers without McDavid - 54 GF, 95 GA...the team lives or dies on what the top two guys do. Virtually never have a game won by the depth guys.
Goaltending wasn't good again tonight, so hopefully he keeps scoring 4 points a night...
