Lowe seems to be a solid AHLer. GOod for him.

Woodcroft is just trying to kiss Kevin Lowe's butt to get promoted back to the NHL :)

Natural first step on the way to the GM chair.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

a tiny note that Ethan Bear missed Saturday night's game in San Diego due to injury....hope it isn't going to keep him out of the lineup down in Bakersfield too long ... thought maybe the plan would have been to keep Bouchard in Edmonton for his 9 games then bring up Bear.....

....Montoya doesn't seem to be getting 'er done for Bakersfield....when is this organization going to take some steps forward in procuring and developing goaltenders?

....my guess is Marody might be the next forward to be called up....

...edit to add...

looks like Marody IS coming to Edmonton...

....been listening to the Condors at Iowa (Wild) morning game...lots of the guys we saw in rookie and training camp making a contribution as the Condors lead 4-2 after 40 minutes....Montoya with 12 saves on 14 shots (Andrew Hammond is 27 for 31 in the Iowa net)....Lagesson, Patrick Russell, Cameron Hebig, and Tyler Benson with the goals for Bakersfield....

...Ryan Holt calls the play-by-play for the Condors and he is pretty good IMO....working alone just like my all-time favorite broadcaster Vin Scully...if the Sportsnet broadcast crew is ever changed, hope this guy gets some consideration.....

I know it is done in the minors for budget reasons but if you have the right guy I love a one man broadcast. None of the interrupting, not on the same page etc.

Yep, I like it.

To the fight itself it is a good thing he is big. I dont think he knew what to do once the fight actually started.
Got to give him credit for standing in there and not turtling.

That looks like a angry Poolparty love it.

Yep, I like it.

To the fight itself it is a good thing he is big. I dont think he knew what to do once the fight actually started.
Got to give him credit for standing in there and not turtling.

The guy he was scrapping with does it for an AHL living, he's got a high penalty count.

For sure, wasnt a slam on JP. He was mad, stuck up for himself and stood in there. I just meant you could see his lack of fighting experience.

I'm proud of him!

....a few tweets from Ryan Holt about the Condors (Benson, Starrett starting to come along)....I know that maybe two or three guys or maybe fewer that are on the current Condor roster are ever likely to have more than a handful of games in the NHL, but it looks like Woodcroft, Dave Manson et al are doing some pretty positive things in Bakersfield....seems much better than the past when the Oiler farm system was clogged with AHL veterans or guys itching to get back to Europe instead of kids with potential....

I worry a lot less about Woodcroft now that we've seen with him gone our PP is set up and plays exactly the same. Seems he was just being a good employee doing what his boss demanded while he was here. Maybe there is a bit of smarts that had been hidden by emperor Todd.

I think Charlie has been a good influence down there as well.

In retrospect, kind of a good thing to get Yamo and JP out of that s**t fest the Oilers are going through right now, great way to ruin a young career having to handle that pressure and scrutiny.

Impressive, for sure. I had read somewhere the water filtration system at RaboBank Arena in Bakersfield had been recently gutted and refitted with a new, top of the line, state-of-the-art Culligan system.

11 game win streak for the Condors. wow. Definitely on board with sending Pulju down there to play for a team that doesn't suck, and maybe even some playoffs.

Our good friend Reggie, in his conditioning stint debut, was a +1 with 1 shot and 2PIMs for interference. Can’t seem to find his TOI.

Also, for those wondering, Spooner has 2 goals and 3 assists during his 5 games down there with a +6 while essentially taking the role of Malone, playing alongside Russell and Gambardella.

Lowetide has a contact with Bakersfield who occasionally does some estimations of ice time of the Condors. The estimates are just that; take with several grains of salt. It's frustrating that the AHL does not make ice times available.

Kind of wondering how badly Ethan Bear is hurting; last night was the third game in a row he has missed.

A little blurb about Sekera's Friday evening in Bakersfield from the Oiler website.

https://www.nhl.com/oilers/news/blog-sekera-brought-leadersh ip-in-first-game-since-injury/c-304647906?tid=281885062

"'He added some leadership to our team today, especially in tense moments," said Head Coach Jay Woodcroft following the win. "He gave us good minutes, he moved pucks and was hard and heavy around our net. I liked everything about his game.

"I'm looking forward to what he brings tomorrow night."

Paired with William Lagesson, Sekera also saw some power play action in his first outing. In the middle frame, the defenceman made a slap-pass on the man-advantage that caught a deflection and hit the crossbar with the score tied."

I heard from Hitch interview that he played 20+ minutes, not bad, if he was allowed to stay down there for a 10 game stint, I'd keep him there until he's 100%

That’s a decent TOI, for his conditioning. Glad to hear that! Absolutely agree on the 10 game comment, unfortunately (to my knowledge) most he can do is 5 with the commissioner’s exception. Ol Bettman likes Canadian markets and the Oilers though, right?
