RNH is back, but that said, I am for the idea that there should be less games in an NHL season. Injuries happen in sports, but hockey is a lot closer to football than it is to basketball or baseball.

My idea, no shoulder pads, like rugby, lot less damage in that game and they are always hitting.
No more football-linebacker type hits, you don't hit as hard if you know you'll hurt just as bad.

Bobby Orr didn't even wear shoulder pads, just little cups sewn into an under-shirt.

Wheres Eager or Gazdic getting their pound of flesh for the Nuge' honor? Man this is incredibly upsetting that not one of the more "physical" forwards even batted an eyelash at Clifford. This is exactly why we will continue to be a ****ing basement team! Sorry MJ.

Don't think they got on the ice after that hit, due to all the PP's.

I don't know if Don ever said that, but I think its probably true, I played rugby for a summer, you think twice when a guy is coming at you full speed and you have to put a shoulder in him, football.. never.

Todays hockey shoulder pads, especially the pro versions, you won't feel a thing.

Don Cherry has talked for the past few years about all the hard plastic armour players are wearing, and using as weapons.

Yep, remember him thwaping Ron on the head with an elbow pad about a decade ago?
(I think that was a clip in the intro for a while too)
Add in a Bobby Orr reference, and that was full-on Don.

Did any Oiler ever make a run at Regher after all the times he took out Hemsky?

If he is only an AHL level goalie, I don't know where that puts Doobie and Labarbera. Guy looks alright, not shakey, making decent saves.

Nah. No point celebrating during a lose. Since we're 0-5 in games where we score first, there's no chance we hold onto this one, is there?

You're going to deny the oilers' play has picked up since the fights? I thought they were just as pointless as you do apparently as they were occurring but the proof's in the play on the ice.

No. But I don't think it was the only factor. They had already started playing better before. I have no problem with the that type of hockey fight, by the way, but I don't think it had any bearing on a power play goal scored on a group rush.

I feel better already with Bachman in goal. Looks solid and steady in there.

He does appear to have the poise. For now...

doh...scored on before I could press submit.

Frattin (and Schultz) with the screen -- he had no idea where the puck was so can't fault him at all.

He looks confident and more nhl quality than our supposed nhl goalies.

Yeah, not his fault on that one. Schultz could have really used another teammate caring about where the puck was on that play.

Yak passing the puck is turning out to be pretty useful.

Belov was way out of position on that goal.

Funny. I'm getting the LA feed, and their announcers are in love with Belov's game. They can't stop talking about him.

I just noticed on the LA kings goal he was up at the point haha. The rest of his game was good though.

You know a sense of urgency from time to time from Schultz would be really nice.

Twice on the pp trying to hold the line. Then deep in his end almost gives a goal away.
