That's a bad line up.

How could you possibly know this on Sep 13th? You've clearly made up your mind already and aren't willing to give the Oilers a chance.

I think that is pretty accurate for a few people. Someone told them player X can't do something even though they haven't seen them play this season so that means its true.

Many people told me that it was impossible for the Oilers to trade Lucic. Then they told me to do it, it would take eating most of his salary plus throwing in an significant asset. I don't know what to expect from the Oilers this year but right now, if Lucic can be traded and it didn't cost the Oiles any kind of asset plus they didn't have to eat a ton of salary to do it and they got a potentially very useable player back, I think anything is possible.

As always, I will allow them the opportunity to show everyone that I'm wrong. It's fortunate, for them, that I don't get to decide what's going to happen so their "chances" of success this season still rests entirely with the hockey club.

This is fine.

I'd love to be surprised too but when half your lineup wasn't in the NHL last year you can be safely considered a long shot.

Long shot? Totally agree. For some reason I have optimism this year and I haven’t had any except for a few months after the 2016 trade deadline.

I like that there is a lot of competition for the bottom 6 forwards and the D corps coming from the minors and FA pickups. We’ve seen teams like the Avalanche completely do a 180 when some kids step up. I’m hopeful that we will see a game breaker arise from the ashes and grab a roster spot. I don’t trust our goaltending and if it’s middle of the pack and the players buy into a Tippett system we just might have a playoff bubble team.

Maybe. July 5th we were a lottery team.

I'm waiting fo see the on ice product, but last year it felt like everything that could go wrong did. I'm hoping at the very least we get even bounces and that gives us some boost.

... but I admit that is entirely mumbo jumbo baseless speculation on my part.

Katz is healthy. We can all make fun of him relentlessly again.

Omission corrected.

Quote:

Jim Matheson on Twitter

Tippett liked Patrick Russell. "Really smart player, positionally sound." He said Nygard and Haas both had trouble getting into the game but got better." Haas especially had trouble with pace early.
