Turned on TV. Cable out. Drove to my folks' place. Wearing green St. Patrick's Oilers stuff. Sitting in a different chair from where I usually sit. Chewing a hole in my cheek. Got a very special bottle of Scotch to crack when we win this.

Love thses pre-draft interviews:

"Would you like to win the lottery?"

Yes.

"Would you draft McDavid if you won?"

Probably, yes.

Just showing draft simulations and asking the most basic questions. C'mon let's get this on.

Like I said a couple of days ago, the pre-pre game show.... but it looks like they got a lot of people to watch those commercials by posting the early starting time. I'm guessing about 5 mins now

btw, that is always how Bettman looks!

Agreed with all who say our management doesn't deserve this, but we as fans sure do! Hall-McDavid-Yakupov 2nd line next year? WOW (can't see him going back to Junior).

hmmm.... who will be better? Bennett or McDavid???!!??!! fishing @ CalgaryPuck and other Flames denizens of the windswept grasslands! (not that I frequent it, but I am tempted today to go see their reaction LOL )

Never actually watched that before. Unreal. Betteman pretty much gulped an FML when our name was announced.

Time to do it again I guess.

Winning 1st just opens up a plethora of options. Trade down and get a kid like Chychrun plus a dman that we can insert now. Keep the pick and trade a vet 6 million kid without fear.

Anyone that wants to see the actual lottery happen that lead to us getting the pick:

http://video.oilers.nhl.com/videocenter/console?catid=4& id=810822&lang=en

1, 5, 6, 14

Bettman looks really tense after he finds out we win. And the guy pulling the balls out makes a funny face after he finds out.

I love how taken aback Bettman is. It takes him a few minutes to process what just happened haha

I wish the video was 30 seconds longer showing Bettman destroying the machine with a baseball bat.

And going all "Untouchables" on the poor auditor who pulled the balls from the machine.

So a little off topic here but why if we do trade our 1rd pick i would like to see us get a couple of late picks on top of the return for it. If we can add a few more bullets the gun and go out and pick up a bunch of dmen late in the draft where is the harm in that.

This forum has turned into a pessimistic cesspool of bitching and whining about the same topics consistently.

How are those late picks doing, anyway? I haven't bothered tracking it because I assumed the Fab 5 Bonus Bullets would all be total busts because MacTavish.

If you're talking Caleb Jones and Ethan Bear, they were both solid picks, and had great years in the W this season. Ethan is still in the playoffs with Seattle.

Ethan was # 5 in scoring for D-men (19-46-65), and Jones was #11 (10-45-55)

Nope, Bear and Jones are Chiarelli picks.

The five picks the Oilers got for #37 a couple years ago are now Platzer, Slepyshev, Yakimov, Houck and Muir. Could turn out okay, could just be five misses for the price on one.
