"Otter" was their main goalie this year after splitting last year almost 50/50.
The term "Was" is relative so maybe you meant in years past but he was the starter for a lot of this year.

I only know because I have him in a dynasty hockey draft and he became found money for me.

Yeah, I was talking about his original lengthy look and opportunity. The Stars had to move away from Bishop, Khudobin, prior to Oettinger. They even get Holtby this year, and that's more than a hedge. Bishop gets hurt and they give the vet the opportunity, go out and get Holtby this year. Khudobin gets waived before Christmas after some poor starts. Oettinger probably doesn't get the opportunity at his age unless Bishop goes down, and his club's hand a forced...but there also has to be a willingness in management and behind the bench to provide the opportunity. Every time a 22 year old gets lots of starts and an opportunity to shine, it's probably because mgmt ran out of options, they will default to vets almost all the time.

He is making no difference like he has in every other game. The only difference is last series he made no difference but did it by skating around fast and hitting players with zero net effect.

Don't listen/read local media and ignore certain posters who parrot them and you will enjoy the game a lot more.

Smith was good last series but I don't think anyone was tricked into thinking the goaltending issues were solved. Most of us knew a bad game would happen and this appears to be it.
Same with the defense. All kinds of mistakes and blown coverage on this one.

Although, as I type this Hyman brings them within 2 so it's not over yet. Hopefully some of he watchers will start playing, especially in the first 3 mins of next period.

If I was a billionaire and owned the Oilers you would have a spot on my team. I am guessing your hits would have the same impact (pun intended) as a few of the other Oilers.

Does this include me? Bc I’d lay a GD hit at least to get some blood flowing on the bench.

LFGOILERS

If I was a billionaire and owned the Oilers you would have a spot on my team. I am guessing your hits would have the same impact (pun intended) as a few of the other Oilers.

I’m sure Stauffer and RD would rave about the P&V I show on the ice, without bringing much of anything else 😂

Add a couple blocked shots in there and you get a 4 year deal!

The first goal was on him, the second wasn't, and on the third th D played his guy bad and screen an n close shot. The defence was also terrible and the forwards couldn't keep the puck out of the zone. Lets not put the blame solely on Smith.

I would have to go back and watch closer but my first reaction was "good" Smith saves all three. He was so deep in his net constantly that he was making everything harder than it should have.

Also, you said "Lets not put the blame solely on Smith." I know many people love to take an adversarial, all or nothing POV but I don't believe I even hinted has putting everything on Smith. I even mentioned the defense being a major issue.

I think he sucked on all 3.

I think he was bad Smith but not the only one to blame. Also, if you direct the blame too squarely at one of pom pom brigades faves they get real fiesty ;-)

I think he saves all 3 when he's on. Hole in glove goal. The 2nd I think goes along the ice under him. 3rd he makes a bad guess and slides too far to one side.

Oh well though, this was a game where we weren't gonna start playing until the other team backed off a bit with a nice lead. A very Oilers start. The stuff we really need to stop doing one day to have a hope in hell.
