Oilers down to 4D with Russel hurting and Larsson kicked out of the game. With Chiasson also out could any of the remaining Oiler forwards play D?

haha, a player with no helmet in the box isn't allowed to skate directly to the bench? So we had to play 4 on 5 until we got the puck after his penalty expired.

Er...was that not a trip on JJ when he was clear on a breakaway? Last I heard that was a penalty shot.

Kozari rules say obvious Penalty Shot for the Oilers = just powerplay for Oilers

Ya, that was odd.

I know that rule is new to the NHL but has been around for a long time in other leagues. I know every time I got in a scrap my teammates brought my helmet back to me.

I am watching the Avs feed and their announcers said it is the teams responsibility to get the player in the box his equipment back.
They also said the refs stopped the play while the Avs had control in the Oilers zone giving the Oilers an advantage, so who knows.

DIdn't they only whistle it down when we finally got control of the puck? It was a 5 on 4 for a while until the Avs lost the puck.

If that is the rule, then it does look like it's the Oilers that screwed up. There was time to get him his helmet after the call, we just didn't.

I honestly dont know who had the puck, I know the whistle went and I had no idea why. The announcers were sure the Avs got screwed but they are HUGE homers. I watch the away broadcast every time and they are some of the worst this year.

On that note, they seemed very sure of the helmet rule, but again, very pro Avs so I wouldnt quote them as fact on anything.

I watched it, Oilers got control of it in the corner after a rebound on Koskinen.

Wait, they called a penalty against the Avs without randomly picking an Oiler out as well to even it up?

The officiating in this game has been what I would refer to as excreable but in a much less polite way. Sigh.

Avs were absolutely flying that period. Thought after the 5 minute, with 2 full minutes of 5 v 3, kill would have turned the tide for a bit but holy smokes they kept going. Koski with 32 saves through 2?

Best way to keep McDavid off the ice? Send the 5”8’ kid to Lars after a big hit to take a major.

He's being forced to play more minutes against tougher lines, so this isn't too surprising.

Like just now, he's trying to defend a 2-on-1 against him led by MacKinnon? No way he should even be on the ice against a guy like Nathan at this point in his career. That's what happens when you suddenly lose 2 D-men.

And Jones' nightmare night continues as a puck takes an unlucky deflection off him into the net. I am not blaming him one bit for this either, because he was forced into this by a combination of crappy officiating and bad luck on the injury front.

I normally never point fingers at the refs when the Oil lose a game, but the officiating sodomized them tonight, plain and @%@!ing simple. They cost the team this game, period. Absolute bush-league level officiating that couldn't have been worse unless they visibly accepted bribes from the Avs to screw the Oil tonight. I haven't been this mad about officiating in a pro sports game in decades.

Wait, when did we get Seth Jones? Did I miss an inside joke somewhere or did you just confuse Caleb with his bro?

Also, in the time I typed this the Avs scored twice. Blegh, time for bed.

I was prepared to not get much sleep with this one tonight but just doesn’t seem like she’s meant to be tonight. James Neal saw this show last April.

Also. Man that woo woo after every goal announcement is flipping annoying.
