Scoring race getting fun.

Kuch 103 points - 21 games left
MacKinnon 98 points - 22 games left
McDavid 93 points - 25 games left

All 3 teams fighting for their playoff position. Won't be much lazy time to try to pad 1 guys stats for awards like what Tampa did for Kuch some years ago to win his Art Ross, when they had the pres trophy in the bag with a month+ to go.

Wasn't able to catch the game but the team looked like fire going by the highlights. McDavid’s game winner looked like a thing of beauty and Hyman beasted out!

Edmonton Oilers
Why he makes sense: It’s no secret the Oilers want to add another high-end forward. How strong of a fit is Buchnevich? It has already been reported that the Oilers are actively scouting him. They’re five deep in quality forwards with Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Zach Hyman, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Evander Kane, but Connor Brown has been a disaster and Corey Perry is a ideally a third-liner at 38 years old. The Oilers are pretty clearly all-in, and one more year of Buchnevich is perfect for a two-year push, as it’s the season after next, 2025-26, when Draisaitl and blueliner Evan Bouchard need new contracts.

What it might cost: The Oilers own all their upcoming first-round picks. If they go a different route and package a prospect with one first-rounder, replicating the package they gave up for Mattias Ekholm last year, we’re looking at a first-rounder and one of Philip Broberg or Dylan Holloway.

Fly in the ointment: It’s the same hangup I had when considering Guentzel as a candidate for the Oilers. Another front-line forward would be exciting, but the Oilers are already elite offensively. What they need more is another top-four defenseman and, I would argue, an insurance policy in net behind the inconsistent Stuart Skinner. Are we sure GM Ken Holland should push his chips in for more scoring? The $5.8 million cap hit would also be hard for Edmonton to accommodate without throwing a veteran player overboard, even if 50 percent salary retention were involved.

Kane is not elite and shouldn't be considered to be part of that group. One of the reasons that the Oilers need a trade is because A) that player is a weak spot on the roster and B) we should sell high on him while we still can and become the first team smart enough to do so. The Jets did okay flushing him, but Buffalo got picks and prospects that amounted to nothing and San Jose got to pay him to go away.

If we could send him away and get back Guentzel or Buchnevich or Tarasenko in return, even if just a rental for the remainder of this year? It would be a phenomenal deal.

On the Kane train … Rishaug speculates he is causing a rift in the dressing room and jibber jabber that he broke his finger last game. More for the speculation forum, but I’d be happy if they moved him out for a more consistent player at the deadline or this summer.

Some players just can't be given long term deals.

Rishaug should keep his damn speculation to himself. We don't need that crap circulating.

If it's true, then you cone of silence that stuff, and deal him ASAP for Guentzel or Tarasenko or someone else under the guise of needing to clear cap room to make a deal work. People would completely buy it because they know that dinosaur Holland has no other ideas on how to manipulate the cap other than moving salary out.

Tell that mouth-breather Rishaug that he keeps his mouth shut and you'll even let him break the trade. Big scoop, there Himbo!

Rishaug is all about click bait and that crap sells. Can’t blame the guy for doing it, but it’s detrimental to the Oilers.

People saying McDavid and Kane unfollowed eachother on Instagram.

Don't worry everyone. Rishaug is on the case.

One of the admins at work unfollowed the other last week. There was some high drama going on. I'd love if TMX did a locals website where I could log on a see what wild drama was happening in the building of shop. Someone isn't flushing the toilet in the lady's room on 4. Becky hate Michelle because Michelle ditched a shift to be sick but was posting on instagram. Stuff like that.
