Refs duped on that one. Dude holds Desharnais stick until he can chickenwing it to draw the penalty from a blind ref.

The Oilers have a few passengers again. Janmark and Kane haven't done anything in forever. Brown at least looks involved, but MJ and Kaner are generally pretty invisible.

Team has looked pretty sloppy the last few games. Not winning puck battles, slow to pucks... loose on D. They need to tighten up a bit and bear down on the stick.

Lots of hope and prayer stuff out there this evening. Wild passes, mad rushes with no support...

The team is finally starting to pick it up, but it's annoying they can't play a full 60 again.

An even up call for a failed goalie interference challenge is hilarious, but also totally expected for this league.

Didn't drai get called not long ago for touching a stick on the ice far away from the play? Two habs in a row poke McDavid's stick away from him so he can't pick it up.

Cheesy if that is called back. The D forces Foegele to go into the goalie

Edit: good. Should have been an easy one. Refs took their time

And a make up call because of how painful it was for the refs to give us that challenge

Every one of McDavid Nuge and Drai are off vs last year on the PP. It lives and dies with them. Thankfully 5v5 has been better this year so the whole success of the team doesn't live and die by the PP now .

no team respects the PP point shot.. because they refuse to take it.. they just collapse in a 4x4 box and dare the Oilers to pass their way through it..

Bouch has scored PP goals at a rate higher than an Oiler D has in some time. But for sure, when McNugeDrai are frustrated and forcing things, others teams can sense how insistent we are to try a perfect pass in/through the box and they shut it down. Might need coaches to mix things up a bit. I'm sure our magic PP from last year has been analyzed to death too.

IMO the passing of those 3 just hasn't been that good this year. Even when things looked shut down they have found ways to create plays out of nothing. They just aren't doing it often this season.

The Bouch is #4 in the NHL for D shots on goal.

true. But it's a case of "what have you done for me lately?" I can't think of a shot lately from him on the PP. I would have to think his shot rate is down the last 4-5 games. Just from the eye view. ...nothing to back it up.

He has to be set up for a shot. McDrai and Nuge seem to want to get themselves going and have been fixated on trying to get back to clicking on their fancy plays down low.

Man. Last year Drai would have 30+ goals already. So many chances flubbed from his favorite spot this year.

It's up to McDavid/Drai/Nuge though to set up Bouch, and they haven't been doing it lately. Can see how badly they want to do their fancy down low plays and embarrass some defenders passing through them. It's up to the coach to give them heck for it, but I doubt Gulutzan will do much of that.

Think it's same as usual, waiting for McDavid/Nuge/Drai to tidy up their plays/passing. Bouch will still be mixed in there, but those guys love those down low plays, and Drai loves his shot on the right side.
