Any reason that he's still unsigned? He's 38 and was only okay for the New York Rangers in a back-up role last year, but we're looking at the kind of awful goaltending that comes around only once in a generation. Skinner/Campbell is going to compete with Conklin/Markkanen/Morrisson and Shtalenkov/Essensa for worst goalie team of all time at this rate. It'll likely be months before we can afford to get our Salo/Roloson (especially since the GM is a complete waste of time), so we may need a stop gap just to stay in the hunt here.

Sounds like Carolina's Kotchetkov is healthy and they have released Halak from his PTO. Not sure if that speaks to how he performed, or just that the Hurricanes have three NHL goalies already between Andersen, Raanta and Kochetkov and are hesitant to add a fourth to the mix on what is unlikely to be a two-way deal.

All their goalies have struggled this year but not sure they're Jack Campbell/Stuart Skinner level of bad yet. Still, there's clearly no confidence that Halak would have turned it all around for them.

Wouldn't hate to see him at least on a tryout here though.

I can see the 725k deal with a 3.225M bonus for Halak if he plays 2 games.
