Wow, that's the first 5-hole wraparound goal I think I've ever seen. Not good.

Usually it's the Oilers giving up a goal with :03 left in a period...

Good Lord Philly plays a boring game. Sucks that it works against us & we keep trying to push passes or beat guys rather than dumping it in & turning their D around.

The Oilers aren't really pushing any play to speak of in this game so far.

What the hell, Cici? No pressure and you force it to the other D who has a man dripping off of him? Skate it up the ice or pass to an open man.

Ceci is just plain awful right now. It is time to bump him down the lineup and see if any of the other guys are ready to handle more minutes/tougher matchups.

Oh so maybe Stauffer was wrong and Vinny being in the lineup DOESNT mean Holland can stand pat on D. Smoker

Well that GA was reminiscent of many in the DoD. Ceci cant complete a 30 ft pass to a guy who's covered anyway, and Hyman doesn't have the trailer on the forecheck.

What we're seeing tonight isn't hockey from a team that can adapt and win, so far. Pretty horrible effort, quite frankly.

This is the same wheel spinning team seen prior to acquiring EK last year. The problems are the same.

Maybe the PP can bail them out.

Tough to give any blame to Hyman on that. The play should have been an EASY breakout. The kind an NHL defenceman should make ten out of ten times. Of all the choices Ceci could have made, I am pretty sure he picked the worst one. There was plenty of open ice and a minimal forecheck yet he tossed the puck cross ice, into his teammates skates. Oh, and the teammate had a player on him as well. What a bonehead play.
If the forwards have to start assuming the worst will happen at all times on the breakout we would never have a forward outside of the blueline until the puck got to the redline.

Hyman was just the last part of the breakdown, last opportunity 5o prevent that chance. Not what I'd expect from Ceci for sure, raw rookie brain fart.

What bugs me the most tonight is 2 plus periods of failure to adapt by the Oilers to the style of play the Flyers are throwing at them

I didn't watch this one. Was this the kind of game where the Oilers outplayed a bad opponent and some bad luck or did they outscore some bad play?

I didn't watch much, but stats suggest a crap first and 2nd, and we started to play in the 3rd. Flyers are bad, and they played yesterday, so maybe gave the opening. If we had a goalie sporting a sub 0.900 tonight, we likely lose.

The first two periods reminded me of watching a mid 00s Minnesota Wild team. Most of their shots were from the outside and both teams were engaging physically. We played em tough and didn't get burned on breakdowns. Dominated in the third. Id say its a good win.

I don't think the Oilers played terrible, but they weren't solid either. Couple that with Phili playing an honestly great defensive game against us until McDavid ran over them in the 3rd and it equaled 40 minutes of skating in circles.
