.903 SV% for Campbell!

Oh and hattie for Hyman, 5pts for LD, 4 for Connor.

Pretty well played by the squad, reffing was horrible.

Too bad we couldn't capitalize off all the favorable calls/bounces against Minny....

Great win...sweep the home stand...and let's get 2 more points in this same bldg next week!

Yeah, questioned the goalie picks, but turns out both gave us the best chance to win. Shame the team didn't show up against Minny or would have been nice B2B wins. Need a great performance for a chance vs Minny. Needed a warm body against Nashville with the Drai show on yet again.

14 points for the Oilers top 4? Big deal. The Leaves Big 4 got FIVE points tonight.

LD has nearly 22% of his season points total in 2 games vs Nashville.

So Campbell started shaky like he did against Vancouver in game one and then played really good after. Why can’t he just do that all game lol?

See my post in the GDT. Nothing wrong with Campbell in this game (see the replay of the first goal showing Ceci’s unfortunate existence - in this case anyway).

Stopped over 90% of them tonight and let’s call that a win, even if he looked shaky at times. A lot of the times.

Chaotic win. Defensive coverage was sketchy at times. Campbell was good, bad and ugly (saved by blocked shots and a post/crossbar).

Even the big line. When they were flying, they were unstoppable, but 1/3 of their shifts looked disjointed and had bad passes and blown coverages. Take the 2 points and keep on, keeping on.

The first goal was brutal, not the way Campbell wanted to start I am sure and in his interview he mentioned that but I thought he battled back and made some big saves at times. I hope it's a start for him.

I don't know what it is about the Preds but Leon scores on that team for fun. Unreal!

Here's a twitter thread beating on campbell's goals :)

https://twitter.com/oilingoal/status/1602916809707245568?s=2 0&t=H6Xrfyfgn-CEK2NHX1KC3w

Goal 1: guy says Campbell uses soft pads that let more go 5-hole. Wouldn't be surprised since he just played 2 months with a glove that had laces so loose pucks went through it

goal 2: didn't pick up potential shooter. Pushing over blind, not ready at all for a potential shot, leg that the puck goes under awkwardly up in the air.

goal 3: almost sitting on the ice for some reason plus bent over forward like he's trying to get a massive log out, barely covering any of the top half of the net.

Nitpicking goalies is fun :) Do hope he gets some confidence from the win.

Nitpicking goalies is fun :) Do hope he gets some confidence from the win.

I have heard goalie guy Kevin Woodley on Gregor's show mention his pads a few times and how the ones he uses is different than others. So it's interesting that this guy brought up pads.

The second goal I don't know if I agree totally with the guy. I think the Oilers just killed a penalty if I am not mistaken so 1 players isn't back in the play yet. Puck is on one side, the player makes a hell of a pass cross ice to Johannson to one time it in. Campbell has to watch the puck carrier then in a split second push across, find the shooter and get set while Johannson rips a one timer and he looks like he shot it across the grain to the far side. Maybe if Campbell did everything the guy said then he makes a miraculous save but if that was an Oiler I would have said the shooter missed a sure goal if he didn't score. I know some goalies can make that stop sometimes but I believe when a goalie makes a save off a set up like that, the shooter didn't hit his spot and the puck hits the goalie. Yes the goalie has to come across and be in a position to maybe have the puck hit him but from that spot, if the shooter doesn't score, he missed his shot in my opinion.

I did hear I think last week that Campbell was working with some new gear. I think it was his upper body stuff so that might partly explain why he was out for so long as normally guys break in new stuff in the offseason.

Regardless, I am not here saying he's back and will be fine. I think he has more work to do. I think a ton of it is in his head but for his confidence, I have to think helping the team win while not perfect hopefully is the start of him settling down his game. They need him as you can't play Stu every game.

Interesting but meaningless fact- with the Islanders losing in the shootout, the Oilers are now the only team in the league without a Fake Bettman Point

We were tied with second least amount of OTL last year as well. This team doesn't go to OT that often, and when they do, they win.

He seems like the kind of guy that takes responsibility seriously. And coming in with big expectations on his shoulders (from himself and everyone else). Coming in poorly he probably was letting it eat away at himself rather than letting it slide off a ducks back.

If he can string together some wins (not just good numbers) then that’s exactly what he’ll need to get his confidence back and play the way he can to his full potential.

And give the team more confidence in him, and maybe figure out how to support him. Like some goalies absolutely hate guys getting their sticks in the shooting lane, they want a nice clean shot that they can see and stop.

Illegitimi non carborundum.
