Ya, Johnny Regular Season is back.
|
Fun to see while it lasts. I remember Yzerman had the same label until he didn’t.
As much as many people are hoping for a Round 2 BoA, If we are lucky enough to advance, I would be just as giddy seeing those guys eliminated. Though I do hate the Stars too. But just not as much.
|
We'll see if Johnny has another level in New Jersey or Philly I guess. Would never compare him to Yzerman though :)

So now Hall has to ride out 3 more years of the Bruins best players getting old and retiring before trying to pick a winner again? Hope he chooses a little more wisely next time.

Missed the first period but turned it on just in time for the panel and oh man just brutal.
I want the Stars to win this series just as bad as I want the Oilers to win.

Funny how they can't see their own players doing the same thing. Some of the sloppiest hockey of the playoffs are in that series.

Being able to somehow ignore their team Sutter level of clutch and grabbing is unique to them though.

Sutter hockey worked in those two cup runs with LA mainly because they had:
1) A bigger more physical top 6 with...
2) A combination of skill/size that accentuated their overall puck possession game
3) More talented D-men
Not discounting what Sutter did with Calgary in 04 as they maybe should've won that Cup Final not really having that much to work with....
The current forward core in Calgary is more skilled than say the Preds were in their prime but it seems to be a similar dump & chase strategy which a team like the Stars can eat up in a best of 7 playoff series. Also doesn't help that their dmen weren't as talented as Nashville's during their runs though the big physical speedy forwards of Dallas ate up the undersized pairings in that 2019 1st round series....
With the puck possession abilities of Dallas, I'm surprised they aren't putting up more goals but hoping that funk continues into the next round for obvious reasons....

I grew up with my childhood being filled by Oilers-Stars playoff matchups. There’s nothing the child in me wants to see more than my Oilers beat those demons. A playoff BoA would be insane… but personally I want Oilers-Stars. Also feeds my absolute disdain of the fLames lol

I can't remember if I've ever seen an NHL player throw his stick at an empty net goal, but I did today! My boy Tony DeAngelp was dangerously close to coming unglue this afternoon. This was made 20% more amusing by having Jack Edwards on the B's pbp call.
This again makes me wonder why Sportsnet doesn't provide a local AND national feed.

Unfortunely i think the Oilers would have more trouble with the stars than the Lames in the playoffs. But would still be fun to see the Lames out in the first round after their miracle season. Then Johnny bailing as the icing on the cake.

Intermission guys making excuses for Matthews saying his ice time is being limited because of pk time. Why can't Selke Matthews do a little PK time if it is so important he gets going? Oh yeah, Selke Matthews never kills penalties and isn't actually good defensively. Leaves it to Marner to do all the heavy lifting for him.

Now 5-0 and Leafs back to the 5-on-3 PK 5 minutes into the 2nd. All we need is the Panthers to win their series, and a Leafs collapse..
