Gagner just matched Turris' point total in 1 night with a hat trick.
Probably shoulda just kept him.

Amen. Maybe Dutch will trade our 2022 2nd for him 2 weeks before the deadline

He does have an inside track knowing the player. Might be worth the risk.

I couldn't be happier right now. My team looks like they are a legit good team. Not a team just on a bit of a hot run riding McD and Leon but legit good from lines 1 to 4, d pairings 1-3 and even both goalies are playing well.
Then the Flames make my night but getting pumped by Ottawa. I know Ottawa plays hard as they did against the Oilers. This is the NHL, these are all pros so I feel that most teams, even bad teams can beat any team if things go their way. Teams have an off night, goalies stand on their head, things can happen. So if Ottawa beat the Flames in OT or Murray just stood on his head because he used to be very good and they won 2-1, then sure. But 6-1!!!! And that is flattering. Lucic scores a goal, then gives 1 back by flinging it in the slot. Flames goalie letting one in from almost center.

Turning into a banner night on the out of town scoreboard.
Flames get blasted by Sens again. All the Flames fans expecting 4 easy wins against the Sens have their dreams crushed. They need to win Thursday just to avoid losing the series.
Canucks up large after the 2nd on the Jets. Any points the take from the Jets are a bonus to us.

Don’t look now but the Sens are only 6 points out of a playoff spot!
This season is going to be wild. Can’t afford to go on much of a downward trend or you can quickly find yourself on the outside looking in. So much swing potential with 4 point games, every game.

Sure, but a full 5 games back. I hate that the NHL doesn't consider games played in their standings.
Habs fälling does leave the Flames window for making the playoffs open though.

IIRC Klinkhammer was a main reason our team went from being a bunch of depressed losers dragging their butts around going through 20 game winless streaks to an inspired team playing like they enjoy hockey again. Don't recall any other change to the team around the middle of that season for why the mood in the locker room took a 180 degree turn.

Canadiens Montréal @CanadiensMTL
The Canadiens have relieved Stéphane Waite of his duties and have appointed Sean Burke as director of goaltending.
We fail for not snapping up Sean Burke when he was available a few years ago.

Looked like Frederick was going after him persistently all game. I'm fine with stars taking care of themselves if some nobody wants to be a pest. Mess with the bull, get the horns and all that.
I am curious how Parros deals with this though. He does prefer to suspend star players...

Seems to me that this is just as bad as Chiasson's suspension worthy crosscheck, just as dirty anyway.

Chiasson gets into a scuffle at the end of the game and gets his stick up and gets 1 game. Ovi rams a guy brutally in the junk with his stick and gets 5k.
Wrong name on the back of the jersey for Chiasson.

I don't know. In their heart of hearts, I think that the NHL wishes that they didn't have to have a Department of Player Safety and that the players would just handle it themselves. I think they view Ovi's reaction to be a reasonable response to the couple of cross-checks he had taken.
Conversely, I think they view Chiasson's move to be the actions of a guy was pissed that his team was embarrassed by the Leafs and therefore wasn't an 'honourable' thing to do so it deserved a suspension even if the force of the blow and the risk of injury was much lower than in the Ovi situation. If Vesey had turned around and done something similar to what Ovi had done, I don't know that he would have been suspended either.
Oilers Goal Differential
17/18: 234 GF / 263 GA (-29)
18/19: 232 GF / 274 GA (-42)
19/20 (82 game pace): 257 GF / 254 GA (+3) in 64 games
2021 (82 game pace):269 GF / 235 GA (+34) after 38 games

I feel a bit for OV. Probably felt compelled to teach this guy a lesson for the overall good of the league. I wish people were giving Matt Cooke (and his like) nut shots every night early in his career.

Is he actually gonna leave 15.5M on the table? Or is he officially going to just be on LTIR and run out the deal. Guess that's not totally unfair, he did get the injuries playing hockey.
Wow, Chicago currently has 26M of LTIR cap space :) That's like, 4 Lucic's.

based on the wording of the "retirement" I assume he's getting a lump sum insurance payment. And of course the Blackhawks shouldn't be forced to suffer the unintended consequences of a star dman getting hurt like this.

6.875 against the cap through 2023/24 since he retired due to injury. That’s a fair bit, especially magnified with the flat cap.

Brent Seabrook is on the 5th year of his 8 year, $55M ($6.875M AAV) contract
Since he's hanging up his skates due to injury (but not officially retiring), his cap hit will continue to count against the cap until the contract expires at the end of 2023-24
https://twitter.com/capfriendly/status/1367869333511299073?s =21
He just becomes a permanent fixture on the LTIR.
Another out for the Blackhawks after a dumb contract signing. He’s retiring. But bc it’s injury related he’s not officially retired, they just put him on LTIR every year till the contract expires and they recoup that cap.
Paging James Neal...
