6 Cups

The start that John Carlson has had this year is pretty incredible. He's currently scored 8-27-35 in 23 games. That puts him on pace for 29 goals, 96 assists and 125 points. While it's unlikely that pace is maintainable, it's an incredible start, and even if he slows significantly, he could have a history making season. Here's the entire list of 100 point seasons by defencemen:

1	Bobby Orr	22	D	1970‑71	78	37	102	139
2	Paul Coffey 24	D	1985‑86	79	48	90	138
3	Bobby Orr	26	D	1974‑75	80	46	89	135
4	Paul Coffey 22	D	1983‑84	80	40	86	126
5	Bobby Orr	25	D	1973‑74	74	32	90	122
6	Paul Coffey 23	D	1984‑85	80	37	84	121
7	Bobby Orr	21	D	1969‑70	76	33	87	120
8	Bobby Orr	23	D	1971‑72	76	37	80	117
9	Paul Coffey 27	D	1988‑89	75	30	83	113
10	Paul Coffey 28	D	1989‑90	80	29	74	103
11	Al MacInnis 27	D	1990‑91	78	28	75	103
12	Brian Leetch 23	D	1991‑92	80	22	80	102
13	Denis Potvin 25	D	1978‑79	73	31	70	101
14	Bobby Orr	24	D	1972‑73	63	29	72	101

The last one was 28 years ago when Leetch posted the century mark. If Carlson stays on pace for assists (unlikely as that is)? He'd have the highest assist total of anyone not named Bobby Orr.

John Norris indeed!
