No Cups

He was probably just stunned that it actually finally happened. Pretty steady back there for the Blues! I would have given the Conn Smythe to Binnington but also understand why O'Riely was in the running. In this game in particular they would have been "sucking the hind bannana" without him in net. Boston was all over them early in the game. Great goal tending and some good luck..... Glad they won! Not sure if a team has ever been in last place at Christmas and won the cup before.

Jay Bo has to be the worst sports interview of all time. He didn’t really seem excited to win.

Him and his former coach Sutter could have been electric at interviews together.

Good win by the Blues, O'Reilly and an awesome D, Boston couldn't do anything offensively. Oilers management need to watch those games and realize the type of players they'll need to win a cup, mental and physical toughness, a ton of skill, and a group that can play a team game. Current Oilers roster is missing quite a few of these ingredients... too many E. Belanger types.

Oilers management, who moved Perron out because he had the wrong attitude...

That was one guy I was really PO'd when they traded him, at the time he was one of very few that actually showed an NHL compete level, could work the cycle, got the puck, kept the puck, and he had hands, a character guy.

I don't know how Jordan Binnington didn't win the Conn Smythe. No way does St. Louis get past Winnipeg and Dallas without him playing lights out. He was their MVP without question.

The funny thing is, he won't win the Calder either, but without question he was the rookie with the most impact this year. The Blues were in last place on January 2. Without Binnington coming in, I expect the Blues season would have ended with a firesale and the club would be beginning a rebuild (there were all sorts of trade rumours around their vets). Instead, they find their game, rise in the standings, get through the Central, and win the Stanley Cup. He saved their season, he saved them from a rebuild, and he delivered the first Cup in franchise history.

Everyone knows the only factor in determining rookie of the year is games played.

On the Conn Smythe, I tend to agree, although a 4 game goal scoring streak in the finals probably added some recency bias.

Couldn't agree more, Binnington was the main reason they went on the run that they did and his name should be on the Conne Smythe.

The best part of the Blues winning is they lose their share of the record for longest cup drought. I'll give you 67 guesses who holds the record all by themselves now.

We currently sit 8th on that list though...It's starting to be a really long time since we won...

1. Toronto 1967
2. Buffalo - joined league for 1970-71
2. Vancouver - joined league for 1970-71
4. Flyers - 1975
5. Coyotes - joined league in 1979-80 (as Jets)
6. Islanders - 1983
7. Flames - 1989
8. Oilers - 1990

Yes, everyone is aware of that, let me have this one, Adam, before making it about the ineptitude of the Oilers organization. 😁

Interesting that St.Louis was the first of the '67/68 expansion to play in the Cup final, and the last of those 6 (including their merged descendants) to win.

Kutcherov? ... so I guess McD didn't beat down the rest of the players enough last year.. McD will be pissed and embarrass them twice as bad next year. And the d-bag that blew out his knee gets the Norris... yeah like he's better than Burns .. since when was the Norris a life-time achievement award... joke.
