The Edmonton Oilers or the Calgary Flames? It sounds if it’s down to a Battle of Alberta for the services of undrafted Swedish free agent forward Joakim Nygård. A decision is expected soon.

Holland and the Wings were always good at finding Europeans. So maybe.

NHL equivalency is 15ish goals over an 82 game season. I still lean towards Tobias R. but maybe i'm biased.

You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you can get a lottery pick.

Could probably use Toby and this guy. Think he would still have to sign an ELC with the 1M base.

Greetings Oilfans,

This is future smyth260 posting. I have some bad news.

The Oilers miss the playoffs in 2019-20. That's not the bad news. That's just the regular news. The bad news is that if Joakim Nygard scored 15 goals for the Oilers, they would have made the playoffs. Bob Nicholson was very vocal about this, and Kevin Lowe even demanded some money from Mr. Nygard after the season was over.

Also, it was the Flames that signed Joakim Nygard.

Signing off,

Future smyth260.

I have to ask though future smyth260. Did Toby finally do his part and score 10-12?

Greetings Kr55,

Toby Rieder never got the opportunity.

Before Craig MacTavish would leave to Russia, the Oilers threw him a massive going away party. They held it at the old Northlands Coliseum. They brought every glory day Oiler and their dogs (and can't forget Scott Howson) down to the rink in their jerseys. Every alumnus passed around the microphone and told stories of Craig MacTavish's best years.

As a going away present, they hooked up Skype to the Jumbotron. A giddy Craig MacTavish got to tell one more Oiler that he was done in Edmonton. Toby teared up, the 19000 fans cheered, and the media would praise the Oilers for such a classy sendoff.

Signing off,

Future smyth260

Yes! Let's return to the days of public executions. Let that be a lesson to all the other Oilers who may continue underperforming.

This is fine.

Wow, I'm pretty happy for Toby. Not every player that single-handedly cost his team a shot at playoffs gets to take part in a once in a lifetime event full of so much history.

Via twitter from a Swedish reporter Johan Ekberg. Nygard is signing with the Oilers. He supposedly is very fast, might be the fastest player in the Swedish league and decent skill. Suited for a bottom 6 role. All he has to do is score 1 goal and he will have a more successful season than Rieder.

Ekberg must be Swedish for Cogliano.
