I predict a whooping. NYI score before 2 minutes are up.

I like Malone. He needs to stay up with the club.
I would also like to see Rattie given a shot.

Connor would have 10 shots a game if he'd shoot his better opportunity than an iffy chance off a dish or a pass.

Good time for Remenda to be right. Right after he made the "even a lucky one would help" regarding the Oilers scoring issues a weak one dribbles in.
Good play by Lucic at the line and nice hustle by Drai

Everyone knew it was going to happen.
I will admit I smiled, and not out of dislike for the trade or dislike for the moves in general, but only out of habit. Always like the kid

A goal by Eberle on a team coached by Weight, Bucky and Braithwaite.
Called the Islanders.
The ironies....
Nice goal by Drai at least.

Going to be super embarrassing when the awkward kid of Katz's goes up for another top 5 pick in the draft this year.

I am actually not that down on the play so far. Good road first period. Fighting the puck a bit but everyone seems to be playing a pretty simple hard skating game.

PlusOne's right- good road period, plus now another one.
Not much to criticize- decent skating, puck movement and control. Noticing the Isles really crowd the front of their own net to prevent the points having a shot.
Edit:
....and then the third happened. 12-1 SOG. Epic.

What were the odds that Ebs would be the first ex-oiler ever to not score on us while on another team? Probably not that good. Even Yak did it.

Lol.
This was mentioned in the pre game thread and the first thing I heard when I turned on the radio was Stauffer going on about how the oilers never intended to pick Barzel. As if thats a good thing.
"...its important for Oilers fans to realize that they were never going to pick Barzel so critisze the trade if you want but...blah blah..."
huh?
In other words he wants to be sure Oiler fans are aware that the teams evaluation of amateur players is as awful as its evaluation of pros.

All of Gregor, Matheson and Stauffer are talking today about how the Oilers would not have picked Brazil. The brain trust really believed it important that everyone knew they wouldn't have got the draft pick right either. According to Matheson, they would have taken Evgeny Svechnikov, a left shot winger with one goal in 7 AHL games this year.
Boggles the mind the way the management tries to protect itself from any criticism. And can't even do that right...

At the very least, Ebs still only has 1 goal since last Jan against a playoff quality team with their starter in net. Was against Nashville last season of course.

I have to admit that for all the back and forth debate about Eberle and the trade this is one updated metric I look forward to.

Ebs needs to retire soon. I'm might start to feel a little embarrassed by the time it becomes "only 1 goal since Jan 2017 against guys name Pekka on a Sunday".
btw, we lost that game vs Nashville. Classic Ebs, only difficult goals in losses :)

That was evident in the preseason, don't know why Oilers are even still considering C. Kelly.
Fun Fact: Eberle has more goals than LD, and LD plays with McD.
Pretty noteworthy that Stauffer saying Barzal was not on the Oilers radar anyway.. that's like a double fail on that trade. They OVER-value Reinhart's ability, and UNDER-value the potential in Barzal .. basicly they are throwing darts at a wall..

Hey now, randomly throwing darts means there is the chance of hitting a bullseye; Oilers were/are actively making stupid decisions, thus eliminating any chance.

That blocked shot by Drake is going to hurt for a while. Pretty sure it got him right in the soft spot on the laces.
Of course we get to here how great Russell is at blocking shots.
Do the Oilers have the worst broadcast team in the league? I dont watch enough other broadcasts to have an educated opinion.
Listening to Remenda mumble, huff, snicker and otherwise babble nonsense all game as to give us a running head start in that race.

Yes, I don't watch broadcasts of other teams enough either, but that assumption is probably pretty solid.
At least Quinn has cut down on "The Oilers are 9th best when it comes to hits on a moonlit night in the month of November" stuff.

That Barzal looks pretty good. We can't assume, though, that the Oilers would have drafted him with their 16th (or at least that's what I'll keep telling myself).

I feel like you and I are watching two very different games. This isnt the most exciting game but it is one of the most fundamentally sound games the Oilers have played this year.
Very few over the top errors, no unnecessary risks and some decent hard working hockey. Not a cup contender type game but not a lottery pick either.

Good, hard earned point.
Holding the Isles to one goal is no small accomplishment, (third in the league in GF) Not to mention basically eliminating Tavares from accomplishing anything.
