Game number Yakupov.

Must Win. With Shattenkirk gone, it may leave the Blues a little bit vulnerable.

That said, Yeo has implemented a man to man system which the Oilers don't do well at all with. I expect a very tough night for Connor and Draisaitl so we'll need supplemental scoring from lines 3 and 4.

Tough night, but you have to win.

I predict a win.

Or Davidson.

Benning has had a few tough games and is a rookie... but to put Gryba ahead of both Davidson and Banning is eye opening. Seems pretty clear the Oilers are looking to move Davidson, much as I disagree with that reasoning.

Well, we knew from his San Jose days that McLellan was partial to dressing guys who could fight, even when they weren't able to contribute to the roster in more meaningful ways. At least Gryba's a couple big steps above Mike Brown...

And he's also Chiarelli's guy - one of the first trades he made, and a guy who he managed to find a spot for on the roster this year even when it looked doubtful.

This whole road trip has been about facing teams you're going to see in the playoffs- if you make it that far. And they haven't impressed. Close games (except TB) but potentially showing that the team is still weak on commanding the third period. They had a couple of great games doing just that in Edmonton a few weeks ago. Two close games against St Louis earlier this year against a team that is now fading from contention should mean an easy win. Do the Oil have the killer instinct to take two points decisively? I wish the answer was an unqualified yes.

Hopefully Eberle gets a couple goals so he gets a good return when he's traded tomorrow. Also, please trade him tomorrow... need someone with a >10% shooting percentage in his place.

You do realize of course that Eberle, even with this miserable season included, has a career shooting percentage of 13.4%? He's at 8.3% this year, so it's slowly creeping upwards.

It seems like he's been here forever, but Jordan Eberle is only 26 years old. He's poised for a bounceback campaign, as long as coaching or awful Edmonton fans don't ruin him.

Trading him at the deadline would be awful, unless we're getting back a better right winger. Generally, teams in the playoff picture don't give up high end pieces off their roster. That would be a horrible decision that would hurt the team's chances - unless, as I say - the pieces they get back are phenomenal.

In the summer all bets are off, but right now? You don't trade Eberle.

I was even thinking last night about how I would really like to see Eberle play a Playoff game as an Oiler.

I know he gets grilled about being a soft player, easy to knock off his skates etc...but as we say in 2009 and 2010 WJHC he was a big game player and scored some pretty big goals.

Maybe a pumped up Rogers Place in April could turn back the clock for him. 6 seasons of mostly meaningless hockey, I think it would be interesting to see how he could do in a playoff game.

I realize his career % is above 10 but My point was that this years percentage is bad.

I sure hope he can recover some intensity. It seems his feet stop whenever he enters the zone gets near the net, and his shooting is terrible right now. Too slow, weak, and predictable. Not exactly someone who I'd expect to dig deep in the playoffs.

Maybe playoffs will reinvigorate him.
