Times went from amazing to frustrating. Could have done something awesome tonight. Oh well, entertaining nonetheless.

No Omark?
|
When I saw Jones out there, I was worried but I hoped that Renney was just saving Omark as the #3 shooter. When he didn't come out, I said "WTF" out loud.

Very proud of the Oilers tonight. They dominated the Flames.
Flames got lucky thanks to the refs and don't deserve this, nor do they deserve the playoffs. It wasn't an amazing comeback.

Agreed Suomalinen. That really made me sick to my stomach. The Oil deserved a better fate. Well that is Ok because Anaheim will eliminate the inbreeds... hahaha.
But I am really impressed with Hartikinen.

If anything the Flames will think they are great because of this "comeback" and still fall flat on their faces.

These ref's are killing me this season. Boys played great tonight, but seemed to run out of gas at the end of the second period. The one game I wanted them to win and we get beaten by the Flamers. Tied up by Staios none the less. Unbelievable.

Tough pill to swallow, but I'm proud of this young Oilers squad. They battled hard 45 minutes tonight. Bad calls, and some bad goals by Dubnyk cost them the game. I'm proud of their compete and at the end of the day that's still all I want. Flames live for another day, but their time is coming. If anything they are more likely to finish 9th now.
I hope PRV is okay, this has been a tough year for concussions.
At the end of the day, I'd rather be in Edmonton's shoes than Calgary's.

If Eberle can stay healthy for the 7 remaining games and keep up his seasons pace and manage to get 4 points in the remaining 7 games he can take the team lead in points

The Flames will now squeak into the playoffs and enjoy a magical run to the Stanley Cup, and everyone will point back to "that game" in Edmonton on March 26 as the turnaround. That would be about par for the way things have gone over the last five years.
What a fun couple of seasons, we should do it again next year...

Tough loss for sure, but the boys played great for most of that game. We've got one more game against the Flamers though so we could still spoil their hopes.
This wraps up our 3rd period:

Was at the game tonight. Thought Fraser had his best game in an Oilers jersey. Naturally ex's kill us again. Nice to see Hartikanen get on the board. Wicked save by Dubby early in the game, save of the year in my opinion. They played great for the 1st 52 minutes or so. Then completely fell apart.

VandeVelde went 68% on the dot tonight on 22 attempts (right?). Also, Big Mac lost his spot on the team tonight, if he hadn't already.

As long as Eberle get a point I'm happy. Happy trails.

Questionable shootout decisions.
I'm starting to like Hartikainen "The Finnish Crash", I like how he plays. But I don't like him in my shootout. That interference penalty he took was garbage and it started the downward spiral.
At least we scored 4 goals. Can't complain about the effort, but thats a demoralizing loss for sure.

Well, wasn't that a kick in the Jimmies!!?
Classic tale of trying to contain a caged animal with no weapons!!
Can you imagine the outcry in Calgary if they had lost to a last place team with 6-7 regulars out of the lineup?!
I imagine this win by the Flames just prolongs the inevitable and will still miss the playoffs but I tell you, those Flames are as hard to get rid of as cockroaches!!
Either that or this win will be the impetus to launch them to 6 straight and a magical run!!! yikes, good times!!
I really thought after making it 4-1 we were off to the races and while I don't want to blame the refs, those calls were a bit sketchy!!
I agree, that Smack really has no future with this team and may have sealed his fate last night.
As much as it pains me - that was an impressive comeback for the Flames and our boys battled to the end but I really want to know just how long the hockey gods are going to be so ticked off at us!!
Haven't we paid our dues yet!!? Darn you Kevin Lowe!!
At the end of the day I just wanted the Oil to keep this one close and they had compete in spades!! Where the heck has that been over the last 74 games!!? lol

How do they give 2 assists to the Flames on the Glencross goal? Vandermeer served that one up on a platter for him to score and everyone is talking about Iggy's 3 point night.. Iggy was a monster though.
Tough loss, flat out wrong shootout choices, Vandermeer sucked.
Still jaded but we've got McDavid

I guess we'll be riding a new HOPE (Hartikainen, Omark, Paajarvi, Eberle) acronym for the rest of the season .

I've liked what Hartikainen has brought. He brings size, grit, seems to skate pretty good. Seems to have some skill. Perfect 3rd liner.
Vander Velde has looked pretty good at faceoffs so far. Maybe he is the answer to the Oilers foes at winning some draws. Plus he has some size. It sucks losing but I guess the silver lining to all these injuries is it forces the organization to have a real long look at some other guys.
Disappointing PK night for the Oilers. 2-4 just isn't good enough. Any time a team gets 2 PP goals in a game, they probably win most of the time.

Cogliano is not and will never be a valuable part of the Edmonton Oilers. The day he is no longer on the Oilers NHL roster is the day they turn the corner to being a good team.
