Oh, Gilbert.

How you suck.

Then I'll just regress, because I feel I've made myself perfectly redundant.

Whitney's was vaguely undeserved.

Gilbert's fully though - he was the one who couldn't get it out, after all.

Difference between the teams? Oilers have let in 29 1st period goals to the Coyotes 11 - magical play by Gilbert to start the game - how many of those 29 goals are because of him? How deflated must the bench feel to go down 0-1 in the first shift and see your $4 million dollar 'surfer' make continual mistakes - brutal...

What's this "trust the system" stuff that Ferraro heard renney saying? After that was pointed out the oilers started to stand around like pylons even more than before in their own end. Renney does strike me as the type to over coach a team. Guess time will tell

I don't want to sound alarmist here, but these Oilers don't seem particularly proficient at ice hockey.

Overwhelmed by Vrbata, Hanzel, Whitney... really?

This is what we are so far tonight:

http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcTz3hnvgLXzQ1Zp0N8wo-EdR9IZsqY0SV1X8EA0dCrkL-sgaBQVsQ

Coyote roadkill.

Hall, Eberle, Magnus, and Hemsky all looked decent, but Magnus deffinately earned himself some more ice time than the dismal amount that he had in Anaheim, he was arguably the Oilers best forward in that period, Hall was close, but other than that the Oilers couldn't create anything. Whitney, Penner, Eberle, and Brule have the shots and Paajarvi already has 4 minutes of ice time so far. BTW, poor attempt to make a save by Gilbert.

The Coyotes remind me of the Oilers of the late 90's. A couple decent players, but no superstar. But they bring it every night.

The Coyotes are what the Oilers should model themselves after, hard work and defensive soundness, and they are a low payroll and young team.

Gilbert would lead the league in points if he got assists on all his giveaways he makes. That goal is absolutely just a defensive breakdown by Cogs, Jones, and Gilbert.

Can Cogs do anything right, he can't even go to the right penalty box, and Stepniak scores to make it 3-0 the Oilers need to start to mount a comeback. Ugly goal to say the least.

I thought it was appropriate he originally went to the Phoenix PB.

Everybody saying that Paajarvi needs to go down to the farm should instead argue whether Cogs should go down to the AHL. Cogs has done nothing of note so far in the last year and a half, he is arguably worse defensively than he was in his rookie year. Paajarvi does alot right, but he is in a slump offensively.

I guess so, maybe Cogs wouldn't be as bad if he was to be moved to the wing instead of centre. He may be a bit more deserving of a seat in the press box for a game or two with Stortini drawing back into the lineup.

Cogs have been good on the PK, so he can do one thing right :)

..but we sure seem to love getting them useless "delay of game" and/or "too many players on ice" calls against us. We would've been right back in there if it wasn't for that dumb penalty.

Now, I hope to see MPS on that first line ahead of Hemsky for a couple of shifts. Sad to say but Hemsky have been very sloppy tonight. MPS on the other hand have been all good especially considered he's playing with JFJ.

I don't see what Cogs is doing for this team, and you cannot tell me that Reddox wouldn't look better than Cogs on the PK. Cogs should have taken the puck from Wolski, but instead it is in the back of the net.

I think Cogs needs to relax and re-focus. He'll be fine if he can take time to relax and not push it so hard.

It really is. I feel bad for Hall, Eberle and MP. They play their butts off each night, and then the vets around them (Minus Whitney) just don't do a darn thing to win. They are learning nothing, and will soon just be used to losing, which will ruin them further.

I agree, but the teams they played on came out each and every night and played their best hockey to their abilities. We cant say our vets are doing the same.

True, Renney needs to bag skate the vets (minus Whitney) and reward the kids with maybe first line ice time. Penner and Hemsky both seemed like they gave the puck away whenever they tried to pass it. Another vet that I think was ok was Horcoff, he played well with the kids, and lets face it, wasn't a sore sight to watch.

I don't know, losing for a year didn't destroy Crosby and Stamkos.

Agreed on the Horc thing. He's been the best so far out of our sad vets. I'm also starting to think its maybe not our coaches anymore. The last 3 coaches we have had now have all had horrible luck with our players.
