it could have been 14-2.

One thing ive noticed is when we are getting our a$$es handed to us, it seems the good teams let off the gas pedal...like they feel sorry for us. That's even worse.
This team is a shambles. Trade that whole so-called checking line. Trade Souray. Start from scratch.

CHI sagged there. Like really, what are they to be worried about?

Listless, uninterested... Quinn refered to The Penner's game the last two weeks as "lifeless" I think post-game.
That's what I got outta this performance. A lifeless performance. Winning seems unlikely and losing seems inevitable.
Not that Dubny's a whole lot better, but when we see JDD in there?
Someone get the white flags and wave 'em!

Are Sourays eggs still scrambled or is he playing not to get hurt before the deadline?

Souray gets it. He knows whether he give a 50% effort or 110% nothing will change.

I dunno. He looked aweful. I think he's tired of the sleepover and just wants his Mom/Dad to come pick him up.

That sentence perfectly describes Souray's relationship to the Oilers.

that is indeed a now-classic line. An AY-certified, Big Time iconic contribution.
Superb analogy.
But it doesn't really start at the malcontent Souray, that's the unsavoury truth. The rest of the group aren't dumb. Well, not dumb relative to other NHL players! They see the leadership, the/ read the climate/culture, they work in the reality.

Anyone noticed that the score prediction scoring system is only giving 4 points to the guys who predicted the score spot on? I guess everything around here has given up....

I hadn't notice that, but I had the reverse score which is usually good for 2 points and I got 0... not that it would make much difference anyways!

Not sure what went wrong, but it is corrected now. 5 points to the winners.

JDD gives me no confidence as a goaltender going forward. He goes down early, does not move from side-to-side well, is brutal with the puck, he is not good at protecting his posts, but worst of all he doe snot track the puck well. He is a "hopeful" goaltender as opposed to a skilled one, he hopes the ouck will hit him, as he normally does not actually know where it is.
Potulny is a darn good goal scorer. He does make mistakes defensively sometimes, but he tends to make mistakes that don't get us scored on. I have also liked Pouliot since he came back. JFJ - Pouliot - Stortini is not a bad 4th line. I have hopes for Chorney too, he is one of the few D-men we have that looks comfortable in our zone with the puck, and he has decent offensive instincts.
Grebeshkov continues to make terrible decision after terrible decision. I am looking forward to having Smid back. And I hope we never see Grebeshkov again after this season.
Horcoff... Banaby is right. It is now official, Horcoff is worthless. He doe snot produce points, he is mediocre at bst on faceoffs, he is soft, and now we see that he is not a capable checking center either. He should be embarassed.
Horcoff and MacIntyre rule.

Took the missus to her first live NHL game last night. Only wish I could have showed her something other than the worst possible effort by the worst possible Oiler team.
We got on the big-screen though, so she was content with that.

This describes Tommy Salo EXACTLY when he lost all his confidence. Not saying JDD has ever gained confidence at this level (aside from the 5 game streak).

It's true that his career so far should not be doing anything for his confidence, and in a way that is the one area he seems OK. Not so much confidence, but he does seem competitive, he looks like he thinks he can make the save. IMO it's just more that he can't.
I prefer Dubnyk at this point. He looks more fluid to me, and seems to track better. He also has the weird aloof goalie thing going on, which says something I guess.
Horcoff and MacIntyre rule.

YES! That's what I call "battle" as a goaltender. Never giving up on a play or scramble.
Huet is not Brodeur. But that save on Penner in the dying seconds (of a game that they would obviously win) was pure battle. I'm thinking you will rarely ever see a save like that from JDD. In fact I thought it seconds after viewing it.
In a nutshell like I said last year. JDD is not an NHL goalie. Not even a worthy back up really.

JDD has to screw his head on before game time. I'm losing count of the weak 1st period goals... That said, terrible turnovers all night long again. Its killing us.

Grebishcov was the worst player on the ice ...... by a lot...... and that is saying something with the performance of the rest of the team.
One horror stat mentioned by the guys on 1260 this am. The Oilers have had one fight in the last 11 games.

I was at the game last night looking forward to a fight. Every time Stortini hit the ice he was trolling for a fight. No takers last night though. It's frustrating when you can't eve try to get momentum by
It would've injected at least an ounce of life in last night's lifeless effort.

That's crazy.
I've never seen a team mail in a half a season before. Sure, there's stints here and there for mediocre teams, but I can honestly see this level of effort the rest of the year. Poor Pat Quinn has got to be the most miserable man in hockey right now.

Okay, now that the Oil are dead last, I think we could use some home wins to keep the masses entertained. Just stay below the Carolina umbrella and hope Ward & Staal get them on a winning streak for more of a safety margin.
