Stone v. Stoner in a real good fight. I love it on so many levels.

East of the Rockies and west of the rest.

He loses fights with the best of them. Bucky must be proud.

Haha perfect way of putting it "dome get beat in". That was the thing with Bucky he'd take 15 clean shots to the head and stay up. Moreau drops the gloves and loses his footing within 2 seconds.

And the sans effort, on the money again.

Only a matter of time until Nolan buried one on the Oilers. It's a given any time we play the old guy.

In 37's case these two aren't mutually exclusive. I'll choose C.....all of the above.

Grebs was off the whipping list for so long.....wtf happened to this guy? It's like "Flowers for Algernon"...... a definite regression for Grebeshkov.

And, he's supposedly "the most confident" in his shootout/breakaway scoring ability. So if he can't do what he's most confident in when it counts, then what good is he?

for ol' tymey power forwards like Nolan. Deep down inside I root for the Nolan's and Guerin's and Keith's and Bert's of the league. Iggy's sorta the newest one. Usually I'm hopin' Souray lays a Big Time-like lickin' on the opposition... not tonight though.

Agreed. Being a Hall of Famer he's able to call it like it is and not be a homer Stauffer style.

Not at all. If that is how you feel about the player then fine. If the fans in the seats want to call him dumb then go nuts.

IMO it sounds bad for (yes) a hall of fame announcer to be calling players "dumb", or better yet to be calling them by names from 20 years ago.

Agree with what he said or not, it sounds bush. Any one of us could go up there and call the players dumb. A professional commentator shouldn't have to.

Philips doesn't even get the call right on his proper name or what goal he's responsible for and out 'n' out sayin' it lead to the Oilers demise like last game.

That's nuts. Lunacy. Put 'im out to pasture, already.

But yeah, #37 isn't gonna be a part of any successful NHL team.

Indeed, but not to the point of lunacy. Yet. It's only 8:40, if you see me post after midnight... different tale.

If Grebeshkov has it in him to do what he did last year, I'm not about to throw in the towel on him. The guy might be playing like complete trash at the moment - but redemption is key in this world.

I argued endlessly last year about keeping Penner over Erik Cole and was called every name under the sun. If you can see the talent, don't give up on a guy. All I'm saying.
Whereas players like MA Pouliot who are totally useless get paid money. No promise is seen in him. At least by me.

If he doesn't pull his game together by the offseason, or into November of next year - I'll join you guys in cutting the guy.

I've rarely been wrong, even with Conky. I did think Dvorak was a God though, so grain of salt.

Well, maybe the choice of words could be better (ie "Grebeshkov isn't playing smart, is he Bob"?), but if I'm getting the game from radio and an Oilers' play costs the team a goal, I want to hear what sort of play it was (dumb?), and who did it. To me, Phillips was aptly describing the play.

Maybe Phillips should have used better words, but let's focus on the important part: Grebs is terrible this year and its really costing the team.

Philips was doin' the same thing last game, too. Really, really layin' into #37.

Having said that though, you watch his career with the Oilers I can only wonder why the big one-year deal? Like, what sorta leverage did this feller really have on Tambellini?

The Oil are always the most depressing this time of year when you turn on the Team Canada junior games and watch the heart and desire of junior kids before they get tainted with money.

Exhibition games have all been infinitely more exciting than any Oilers game this season.

That kills me. Every time the Oilers get a PP, I feel no anticipation of a goal. It's weird, watching any other team you can feel some pressure coming. The odds of a goal being scored increase drastically.

Not here for us Oiler fans. You never feel a goal coming with the Oilers, they kind of just happen every now and then. Except when Penner turns it up a notch.
