And so on, and so on.
Will we hear the 'I want to see what we have' on the radio, or somewhere in print tomorrow?
There's nothing left to discover about this mediocre roster. It is what it is. He's been on the job since the summer of 2008. How much longer does the guy need to assess the glaring, structural weaknesses of this hockey club? This team is an ice age away from contention.
As they say, though, you get what you pay for. And the Oilers paid for a collection of marginal, limited hockey players.
When does the building start to empty out?

Where did this come from. Yeah I know your rant about blowing the team up and the GM sucks but how does the Visnovsky deal have anything to do with it? Vis is a very good defenseman for us, Matt Greene has done squat for LA and Stoll is hurt. It doesn't look like it worked out for LA either.

Horcoff is the worst contract in the league. Easily.
Prove me wrong.

I'm as hard on the team as anyone and I didn't see a ton of the game but it looked to me like we had our chances but just didn't finish. JDD plays like a young tender out there. Make a host of good saves then let in a couple of bad ones. In the end when you give up 2 goals you should win or at least take it to ot.
At least we made that monumental salary shed of Brodziak at the draft so we have lots of cap wiggle room.

That was a bit of an ugly game live.
On a positive side, we shutdown the points co-leader in the NHL. I really cannot find a lot of positives otherwise. I didn't think we'd win going into it but I did think JDD stood up decently well.
Can't win if you can't score. Our team is so soft, I think I saw a pound of butter knock over a forward last night.
I don't see the hatred for Visnovsky. He and Souray were one of very few Oilers that I noticed do good things out there. When Potulny and Moreau are the only forwards putting in an honest day's work though, how much can our 2 star D put the team on their back, from the back?

The oilers controlled the play for the first and second period. Moreau was on a tear and Souray and Vis were foing everything respectable. Hemsky was running well last night too.
Once Hemsky got hurt the wheels fell off the bus.
Wow, wasn't that a poke in the eye to Tambo? The Funk question to Quinn and his reponse was like, "maybe this is as good as it gets". To me, that's a coach making a not so subtle reference to get him players. I have never seen a coach so close to pulling the pin on the season. His finger is literally around the pin coil.
You can't ice a team with 5 players who worked it. (Moreau, Vis, Souray, Hemsky, Poultny) The rest of the team, brutal. Just didn't bring it. Cogs, PO'S what the heck?!?
The very definition of insanity is doing the exact same thing expecting different results.
Generally Disappointed.

in the old man's defence, Quinn doesn't wanna come across like he's outta touch with reality here, right?
An' he's cunning enough to give himself and his staff a lil' distance every now and then when he speaks of "management" bein' high on this player or that.

I don't think Quinn has been out to lunch yet this season, fined remarks included.
Having an outsider who knows how to ice a team come and see the shenanigans that we call hockey has resulted in nothing but straight shooter observations from the old man. And good ones too.
God, I'm feeling empathy for MacT these days. Do whatever you want... this group can't be coached out of a wet paper bag.

Quinn's been a breath of fresh air, but is he really sayin' anything different than MacT's astute observation and expressed disappointments? Hockey-types are hockey-types.
I don't think so. My fav-our-ite's this year have been the "...dickin' around" comment from a game or so ago. An then his reaction of, "... not on my time" when the question arose to use Comrie again on the shootout after his attempt in OTT was it, where he hit the puck pointed down with his stick.

Just wondering if the annoucers mentioned anything on game milestones for Moreau and Gilbert for last night?
If not letting you guys know that last night was Moreau's 600th game as an Oiler and Gilbert's 200th NHL/Oiler game.

That's harsh. Moreau was a solid player for a number of years here. It's only been the last year or so that his game has really fallen off.

His game started off great last year when he was slotted on the top line with Hemsky and Horcoff he was on pace for a career year which is good for a 30+ year old player. It has really gone down hill since his broken leg last year though.
