Overheard in practice this morning.
Mac-T "Just try and score first and we'll sit on the lead. If they tie it we'll win in in the shootout."
Sage advice.

Everything was going according to the coaches plan until Gionta... Stupid players.

After the Unholy Ones almost score at one end, Hemsky rushes down the right wing and puts the puck on net...the rebound comes out to a trailing Pitkanen, who puts it past a sprawled-out Brodeur whose back is to him and utterly helpless. Good times.

Could Pitkanen get 15 goals this season?

Sure he could--he just has to believe in himself.
Coming off a forgettable campaign last season, he just needed someone to tell him, "Hey Joni, put it all behind you..."

Can you imagine how many he would have probably had by now if he wasn't injured?
Lowe better start working on that new contract for him.

Classic MacT hockey, lets protect a 1 - 0 lead.
Also....when the hell is that useless git Staios going to get benched? For gods sakes Smid is left to cover two men in front all the bloody time as the peewee whirling dervish flounders on the ice. I've offically had it with that guy.

Still hanging in there, I hope the Oil brings a little more in the third. Garon should get danger pay.

They have to start scoring more goals. More shots on net would help this situation, obviously.

I wonder what MacT said during that timeout?

The Devils tie the game as Gionta finds Elias with a cross-ice pass in front of Garon and the Czech one-times it past Garon.
Then only seconds later, Garon makes the initial save on a Joisey rush but is out of position as Gionta swoops in and snaps it over Garon. Goals 35 secs apart. Boo-urns.

Staios is playing twister or something. 1-0
Gionta alone 2-0.

If I was Garon, I'd be right pissed. Giving the team every chance to win with the saves he's making and the rest of the team drops 2 bricks in the bed within 35 seconds.
Whyever did they think they could protect a 1-0 lead. Dumb. Just dumb.
Hopefully they can even it up with their first power play, I've never seen a team go without a penalty for this long!

3-1 Jersey.
What did we learn with this one? Maybe its not sage advice to sit on a 1-0 lead?
In fairness to Hall, I've wanted to throw a waterbottle at Eakins all season.
