Oh look, another Drai botched pass leads to a Flames odd-man rush while the Oilers are on a PP. You can't make this stuff up.

I'm pointing out specific bad plays made by Drai. Basic passes back to a D-man or to an open winger aren't particularly "good" ones, you know. Drai keeps attempting passes that only Connor can make on a regular basis and fails over and over again. He also has a propensity for making blind passes which are even worse because he doesn't have Connor's awareness of the ice.

I'll wait for you to put together the highlight reel of dirty Drai passes to counter what I'm saying, though.

The should have hat cannons in the stands, like the T-shirt ones, to fire hats on the ice in times like these

On second thought, maybe not, someone might load a jersey in there for a bad game.

To be fair, Pisani DID walk on water for that playoff run..

I think everyone knows guys like Haaaaaas are what they are, but he's better than what they were rolling out (Turris) and he HAS made a difference, both on PK and low event minutes in our own end... the guy has some speed, and smarts.

No one is saying there's no value in those guys. Ryan Smyth was a very valuable player, Pisani definitely was valuable. But grinders (and fighters) get all kinds of love, and often aren't looked at critically at all. Jason Smith was worshiped as if he was one of the best captains we ever had by some. He was a good player, but he was never the most important defenceman on the team in any of his seasons here.

Meanwhile, there are those who do suggest that McDavid & Draisaitl not doing enough is the reason the Oilers aren't contenders yet...

Seriously, who is saying this? The general consensus here isn't that the top forwards are the issue with this team but instead the defence and goaltending. I can't think of a single person who EVER said that McDavid is part of the problem instead of part of the solution for this team, so I'd really like to know who the idiots are who are actually voicing such sentiments.

I have mentioned the same thing before as well so agree with you.
Like Adam said those guys have value but many Oiler fans base evaluation on expectations.
A 10/10 talent player can never make mistake. Every shift, every game should be a masterpiece.
A 4/10 player gets praised on the regular for non-tangibles.

this was years ago but I read (maybe even on here) that the if you take out the top 5 scorers from each teams sales numbers the Oilers lead the league in jersey sales every year.

I remember reading that the Stockton Heat were moving to Calgary for the year but didn’t think they replaced their parent club

I'd be mad if the score wasn't as lopsided as it is.

ok, i'm not saying that wasn't a penalty, but usually interference means the player doesn't have the puck on his stick when the foul is committed.

I'm fine with the refs' incompetence here, because the Oil have done a great job of keeping the outcome of this game out of their hands so far tonight.

There's a poster in here who complained about McDavid in about three straight games and suggested that he wasn't a leader, etc. etc. If someone remembers who that is, it's easy enough to find the posts.
