Seriously, who is saying this? The general consensus here isn't that the top forwards are the issue with this team but instead the defence and goaltending. I can't think of a single person who EVER said that McDavid is part of the problem instead of part of the solution for this team, so I'd really like to know who the idiots are who are actually voicing such sentiments.

There's a poster in here who complained about McDavid in about three straight games and suggested that he wasn't a leader, etc. etc. If someone remembers who that is, it's easy enough to find the posts.

Well, one person is far from being any sort of consensus, so maybe he was just a rival fan coming here to troll. I'd say it could have been that diptard Shoop, because he seemed dumb enough, but I'm not combing through his filth to find anything.

If this game gives Koski more confidence for upcoming starts while Smith continues to play well, the Oil's goaltending situation just might become *less* of an area of concern. I'm still not a big fan of the fact that the Oil D has been coughing up so many shots against, but Koski's dialed in right now.

Oil keeping a lot of shots to the outside. That helps. Not trying to take anything away from Koskinen. He’s looked confident and sharp.

Back to back solid games in net is nice to see. Regardless of opinions on the overall quality of the tandem the Oilers become VERY tough to beat with competent goaltending.

This is more like Koski and Smith were during the regular season last year, sharing games and playing well. I don't want to give them any sort of encouragement though, so we've got to reduce the shots against and keep pouring it on them. Can we go for double figures please!!!

To be fair, I heard that earlier tonight, Matthews joined Crosby as the newest entrants to the Top Five NHL players of all-time, and he's basically toiling in obscurity right now. It's nice of the panel to bring such valuable content to the table.

Hockey night in Canada is the only time I am ok with this. They spent the first half highlighting this game and spotlighting a couple of Oilers then thrashing the Flames.
I also hate to say it but Matthews deserves the airtime he is getting right now. I was bashing him as a one trick pony like early OV. My Leaf fan son was explaining to me how good he has improved his overall game. I sat down and watched a couple with him and had to admit was playing really well.
I was surprised how many times he was trusted on D zone starts over Taveras.
