Dang. Nuge is gonna be looking for 9M at this rate. NHL GM's going full NHL GM.
"The Edmonton Oilers are not where they should be right now and that is unacceptable. We need to get better immediately. That starts today"
-Kevin Lowe, April 2013
"Next year (15/16) I would forecast as another developmental year"

TO media guys saying Marner is now banking on an offer sheet unless the leafs get serious and start around at least 10.5M to begin negotiations.
Good times!

That's a heck of a contract for a guy who routinely gets 40-50 points per year. This is a Lucic-type deal.
Teams are still paying a premium for size and weight.
Anyways, lock up your key players long and early because the cap hits are escalating quickly (example: Oilers should have signed Nurse long-term instead of bridging him).

It's all good. Nurse will give us a nice discount. Just gotta send Lowe to him to explain how all the Oilers guys gave discounts to win back in the day. That kind of talk worked wonders for Shanahan with the current Leafs kids.

Not sure he can be careful considered a journeyman, he played in New York for several years before being a rental in Winnipeg.
I agree that it doesn't mean it's a good deal.

This should help mess up the Flames at least. I was reading over at CalgaryPuck that they are hoping for 7.5-8M max for Tkachuk. If Hayes gets over 7 then Tkachuk would have to be about 9M.
Seriously, GMs are getting out of hand. I think the players get some blame though, they keep demanding more too. I wouldn't expect any less, but in a way they steal from each other.
